2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Noisy 96

I have a 96 that had a v10 auto,did the swap to 12valve 5 speed. Runs great and does all I ask of it, but the drone of the engine on the interstate will drive me nuts! Has full exhaust with a muffler. Did the cummins trucks come with more insulation under the hood? Just want to be able to drive the truck and lister to the radio.

Last spring I pulled out the seats and carpet. Then I tossed out the padding. Lined the floor and some of the verticle surfaces with ice and water shield roofing. ( it has an adhesive on it)

put some insulating blanket over that and reinstalled the carpet and seats. It is much quieter. Still loud, but you can talk inside and hear what the other people are saying. My exhaust dosn't go all the way to the end of the bed. so I'm hoping that a new 4' setup in the spring will get me a little better reduction.

The biggest difference is the firewall insulation
