I couldn’t agree more, watch the parts!!!

I’ve seen total crap offered by some of these parts houses lately. I pretty much go OEM now.

Sometimes you can find OEM stuff packaged as aftermarket too. Just pulled that off with a new 3rd brake light assembly for the Town and Country. I believe the line was BWD. Only one available through Advance Auto, looked like it might have been a special ordered orphan.
MOPAR wanted about 80.00 for a new one, the BWD was 35.00. Rolled the dice and had it sent over. Took it out of the BWD box and it had the MOPAR numbers molded into the plastic housing....SCORE!!

Something as simply as wiper blades. I go to the dealership and buy the OEM. They last 3
times longer than the blades that cost half their price.

Me too, except they're NOT twice the cost. I've bought 4 trucks over 20years at this dealer and even the parts folks treat me right. About the same price as Bosch. Sometimes the parts manager will even price match the internet... they did on the cargo management system on my wifes 2019 Ram Laramie Longhorn 1500 4x4.

Back to the top of the thread: I have empathy for folks having problems with their trucks AND with dealers who can't or won't fix their problems. I attribute my great satisfaction with Ram due to SUPERIOR customer service at my dealer of 20 years.

Bring your trucks to Bluebonnet Dodge in New Braunfels TX to get your trucks fixed.

On Monday I set out to remove my reman actuator. My neighbor across the street saw me and came over and told me to take it to the Dodge dealer he worked at for 30 years. He talked to the diesel tech there and one of the service writers, and they told me to bring it in. The tech said most of the time, it is the turbo that hangs up and kills the actuator, so he just replaces it all at once and gets it warrantied. So Monday afternoon I took it in. The service guy called me last night and said the actuator is probably good, the troubleshooting points to the PCM being bad. A failed driver, he said. This would be under warranty, he said, and would most likely be done by the end of the day Wednesday. No call from the dealer by 4pm today, so I called them. They installed the new PCM, and are getting codes for a bad speed sensor.... I never had a code for a bad speed sensor. So either the last PCM didn't pick it up, or the new PCM is also crap. I told them to keep the truck until it's fixed, or it catches fire.

Meanwhile, Dave Smith has a nice 2500 mega cab HEMI for sale.....

Hope the figure out your gremlins for sure never fun to have issues with any vehicle.

Nothing wrong with my '18 2500 6.4L so far, you can tow some decent stuff it's very capable for a gasser, they all break mine will too at some point. For $40k power to dollar ratio is probably not bad at all.

4.10s limited slip rears, it runs pretty good surprises some folks off the line for sure with my Tommy Gate and all..

Would I prefer a 6.7 yes, but this was a good deal and working out well for my purpose.

It collects ice and snow with the best of them.

Had about 3/8" of Ice over the weekend.

Will get my 2nd Gen back on the road in the spring to get my Diesel fix.

.

I'm far from a mechanic but I'm not so sure I agree with this assessment. Sounds more like the dealership mentality of replace all components involved so it doesn't come back in.

When you changed the actuator did you check the movement of the turbo? It should move with little resistance.

CMgo, The Turbo has over speed sensor, or is it the sensor that measures vehicle speed.

Newsa, I would like to be enlighten how a bad PCM would cause NO start without supporting issues prior to failure.

Some Dealership would change out module(s) on a no start when the in tank pump has failed, most likely related to poor relay or connection.

Dealerships have one PRIME directive...……. replace the most profitable part for the Dealership and then blame the truck and charge more $.

I would push dirt in a wheel borrow for profit before I would drop to many dealership depravity. Yes, I use to be vested in a local dealership (Owned) and I'm still vested in the corporation that now owns that dealership....When I thought I've seen it all another unbelievable event comes before Me.

What's more distrusting is owners willingness to believe in Stealer-ships , Most Dealership have the appearance of knowing what their doing, In many cases Charlie Daniels has more knowledge.

On Edit: I used the word Stealer & Ship is against forum rules, Its Time for Me to move on.

WOW...….S-T-E-A-L-E-R is against rules?

The truck would not turn over. I originally thought it might be a bad neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal...... Because the evic and all the bells were working. It just would not crank the starter. Even tried jumping it. Nothing.

The dealer thought It was a bad FOB. So the dealer made me pay for a new FOB. Yes, poor Trouble shooting on the part of the dealer. They determined it was the PCM and replaced it. It had to be programmed for the g56 and 660 ft lbs, so it took awhile to arrive at dealership

The PCM’s come blank I think the dealer is who installs the program after the unit gets installed. I don’t believe they come Pre programmed.

Good thing that was covered by Warranty Newsa, Because it takes 10 minute to check the PCM.

My truck does the same thing, Its the battery detect Software. IMO, That's why I now have the solar charger plug in if it sits for more then a few Days.

ED is correct it must be Programmed in the Truck.

Jumping it requires that both batteries are connect to a power source or the system goes Stealth mode.

Yes you may get by with just jumping 1 battery, You are asking for trouble, and it should be avoided if possible.

This '18 is the first truck I've ever kept on a trickle charger if it sits more than a few days.

I'm using a NOCO 3500 that floats at 13.4V.

Why would it not be covered under Max Care?

My point was how many owners get the Bill for the PCM and its not the problem and most likely in your case the same, its extremely unlikely the PCM was at fault..

You can re-flash the PCM or re-set. PCM going bad are = to a hurricane in MN.

You can smoke Module(s) by voltage spikes, going bad to the point of replacing Me thinks not.

I get the feeling this dealer doesn't get alot of Cummins. I was told once by a tiw truck driver not to jump from another vehicle. But he seemed to think that jumping from a rechargable battery pack that is designed to jump start cars is safer. I had a battery pack with me and tried that first. Nothing! So i had a Chevy Avalanche try to jump me. Still nothing.

I think they didn't know how to fix the problem, so i think they involved the region rep. But they probably didn't tell me everything correctly in what they did.

It might be that it took a week and a half instead of just a few days.... Because (maybe) they tried to reprogram the PCM first. And being unsuccessful, they replaced the PCM.

They did call me to ask if i had tuned it. I said no because it is all stock programming and i never considered tuning or deleting during the warranty period.
