I dunno... I don't think they are so good lookin'. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I like the Buckstop MUCH better--pricing is way better too.

I think they are like the road armors, just too much going on there. I too prefer the Buckstops, but probably because I already have them. :D

And I would have to like those other ones a WHOLE lot more for 3 or more times the price. :--)

Bumper Fab

Okay guys,

With the price of those bumpers I am going to chime in. I have a sport so I didn't want to change out the bumpers. However after that little problem with the skid loader and this weekend with a boat rolling into my bumper, I have rethought it.

My step dad has a fab shop, and I am a design engineer. It's time to make a TDR bumper that normal people can afford.

Any ideas would be helpfull.

EEngel,

If you can make them look like a Roadarmor or Offroad Alloys bumper and be affordable that would be awesome. I really like the big tubes for the brushguard. JMHO

  :--) mine priced at 12k+... they have got to be kidding... maby 1,500-1,800 at most. i might buy them for that.

but i have to admit,best i've seen.

They had that truck at the vendors' display at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. The bumpers looked great in person, with a lot of nice little touches, but I had no idea how expensive they were.

Fab our own bumpers

blake underwood,

I sure would like to get some measurments off of an existing bumper to compare to a new design. I will have to see if there are any local guys with one of the aftermarkets.

I guess I could just try one for myself and if people like it, I could have more made.

I have always liked the Road Armor front bumper they used in 2 fast 2 furious.

Even something close would be nice.

Just flat black in color... Nothing shiney or fancy.

I really like the over the hood tubing.

If you decide to build something like it... PM me about it and I would be interested in buying if the price is reasonable.

I priced road armor at $4500 for the front and $3500 for the rear. Thats $8k I can use a lot of other places. :D

My choice to go with an aftermarket bumper was induced by a 3 mph bump into a Toyota MR2! I got 2 bids on the damage of GHOST RIDER. One bid was $3,000 and the other was $3400!

These cost help me decide to get the Road Armor Titan II. I wasn't going back to stock and allow another 3 mph bump to cause this kind of damage and bill on my truck again! My insurance company paid me to do the repairs myself, and I still had money left over!

I didn't pay anywhere near the cost you are quoting! About half!

I am sorry, but those bumpers are ridiculously gaudy! Yuck!

They scream male dysfunction! LOL

My Thoughts Exactly - BUT don't forget these bumpers are probably put on all the SUV's being driven in IRAQ by our tax $$$$$$!!!!!!!!

I looked at the pic of your bumper. Its not the same one I was looking at. But road armor had their price sheet and with almost all the options included, it was $4500 for the front bumper alone.

Maybe I will go spec it up again and post all the options so show you what I mean. But ultimately, I think I can buy a welder... Take some classes and make something pretty similar for a whole lot less. I have time and patience... That can get ya far in life. :D
