Bob, that was part of why I was unhappy, the original service advisor just told me it wasn't covered and I had to pay. When I asked why he flat out said he didn't know, he just puts in the numbers and the computer says if its covered or not.
If you reread my posts, I didn't bash the original dealer, just said I was unhappy with the answers I got.

I stopped at a different dealer on the way back from a job today. The service guy was very helpful. He ran the serial number and the codes, and showed me some dealer proprietary info on what they get back when they punch in the codes. The emissions warranty is what Timd said, 5 year or 50k miles, so my truck is out by 8k. They guy also recommended I replace the NOX sensor with a Mopar one to make sure it's compatible software wise as opposed to an aftermarket one.
007Poke, was that a NOX sensor you replaced? I haven't seen a new one for less than $400 and I've been looking for a few days. Can you send me a link to where you got yours? Thanks!

I replaced my rear NOX sensor with the Dorman model almost 2 years ago, it's been fine ever since. I don't recall exactly what I paid but it was less than $200.

Didn’t mean you when I mentioned the bashing.I think it may have been cummins12v adding his 2cents inaccurately

This is what I said, I did not quote him I simply asked a question. I think we all have heard of stories that the dealer denied coverage but another approved.

"WHY do Dealers CONSTANTLY deny warranty claims that ARE clearly covered???"

That's correct, we hear that often here.

What is ridiculous to me is that there are differences in coverage depending on the state the truck was bought.
Never heard if that before - I mean you are one country.

Ozzie the coverages are different because California laws are different,Trump has taken the first step to end this.Hopefully he can continue to make progress.

That's what i think, one country, one warranty law.
Living in the wrong state? Oh soo sorry Sir, you have to pay the 5000$ Bill, your neighbor 5 miles down the road is better of.

Perhaps a CA resident can chime in.....but I recall reading on this forum that on the 2012 and older 6.7L Cummins pickups, the 67,500 mile service (CCV filter and EGR valve and EGR cooler) were a no-cost maintenance item for CA residents.

Update for you guys. I bought a Dorman NOX sensor for about $230 and installed it Thanksgiving weekend, then replaced the hose to the Dosing nozzle last weekend. Cleared the codes and it's been fine since then, no MIL light! YAY!
Thanks for the help everybody.

That’s FANTASTIC! Now if we can get an alternate source for the DEF heater/ pump it’ll be great.
Now, that Dorman sensor- did it come with a module? Or was it just the sensor like you’d get a gas engine O2 sensor?
