I was just wondering if anyone here has ever replaced a input shaft seal on NV 5600 and how difficult it was? Also if anyone knows where I can buy a GOOD tech manual for the transmission
I rebuilt my NV-5600 the imput shaft isn't a big deal just whatch when you remove the bearing retainer on the front their should be some shims inbetween the retainer and the imput bearing race this sets the preload for the main shaft and bearings so when you take it out make shure you put the shims back in, their is a big retainer in the back side of the bearing retainer looks like a big washer with a iner and outer lip you have to pull it out be carfull not to bend it to bad its kinda heavey after you get that out the seal is behind it and I do have a factory Dodge manual that I used on mine its some pretty good info if you've got a cummins truck I would recomend buying one anyways its got everyting from engine to transmission to body and int. Genos has them on hard copy or CD good luck.
