Then I'll assume the G56 for the 5.9 is the AD and 6.7 is the AE.

Basically yes,there were a few of the 0.7 5.9's that got the AE.
Motorhead on here got an AE. I've got the AD.

When I was looking for a New 2007, 5.9, Guys here said to try to find a truck that was built in the last two weeks of 2006. I was lucky, after looking for a few days on line and found mine in Sacramento, Ca. I wanted a Laramie but couldn't find one with the late G-56. I have 110,000 miles, the DMF left the scene at 30,000 miles. I ran a South Bend CON-OFE and now have the OK-HD Sb clutch in it now. I have run a Smarty JR on the truck for 90,000 miles on the 70HP setting towing and empty. Trans sounds and shifts the same as new other than gear rattle after the DMF failed. I have thought about an external, electrically pumped, fan cooled trans cooler.
