2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission odometer fadeing away

the mileage read out on my truck is slowly fadeing away,just wondered if anyone else has seen this happen on their trucks. Looks like the read out is seperateing. thanks in advance John.

My speedo stoped working below 25 mph. No idea why. Haven't had time to look into it. I was thinking that maybe there is some resistence across the sensor from the tone ring to the reader on the top of the housing.

Doh! I just got what you were asking. Have you opened up the gauge pod and checked to make sure all the connections were tight inside?

Thanks for the reply Mark,It seems to be a cold weather thing, when the temperature was down around zero it seperated real bad now that it has warmed up it has cleared up. I never noticed it before could also be related to age of truck . Thanks again John

speedo quirky?

Dodge trucks seem to use an electronic speedometer sensor in the transmission, and a second speed sensor on the rear differential (for the ABS system) which will also drive the speedometer if the primary sensor fails. This exact same thing happened to me on a Ram van, the speed sensor in the trans went bad and the speedo didn't start up until 25 or so, then when the rear sensor failed too it stopped working altogether of course. While searching for the solution (besides taking it in to the dealer) I found all this out. And the dealer parts guy told me that Dodge used the same rear axle sensor on just about all Dodge products including my 98.

I thought starting with the 98. 5 24V they dropped the spedo sensor in the trans and went with just the rear sensor.
