Clutch Exploded

Filter on the left is from amazon. Came in a mopar box but its a wix filter. Current fleetguard on the right.

Ordered some OEM mopars from genos that on the website look like the filter on the right.

Is mopar using Wix as a source?

The filter on the left is the correct filter, WIX has been rumored as one of the manufacturers for 10+ years.

The filter on the right was superseded by the filter on the left around 2008. I wouldn’t use these filters, they don’t flow enough and why the 4” version was released. I haven’t even seen one for sale in many years. My dealership sells the 4” one.

Thank you John.

I had bought, four of the fleetguards about 4 years ago.

The 4" Fleetguard and Wix are identical, well, at least by looks. I had them side by side this year as MOPAR has recently changed over to a white media. The Wix had their name as your picture shows. You may have NOS. Factory OEM, Yellow Media, has different marking, including capacity, than the Wix that doesn't have that number.

I would be concerned about a knock-off from the Amazon seller. IDK about MOPAR replacement air filters, but like you, I would doubt they have Wix on them. Someone return this with a Wix in it and you got the box with whatever in it?

That thought had run through my head @Tuesdak .

I've got some filters coming in from Genos soon ill see if they are wix or not.

How true is this? On my 07 with 5.9, mine came with the 2in. thick filter, On the 07 with the 6.7 the filter is 4in. this is what i was told from dealer mechanic.
Made me wonder cause the design on the air box i have doesn't look like a 4in would fit.

Thanks

Soon after the 4" filter for the 6.7CTD was released, Fleetguard followed up with a 4" thick filter specifically for the 5.9CTD that was same thickness but slightl;y smaller.
Simply said, the upgraded thicker filter is the one you should always be using.,

Herer are the 5.9 CTD upgraded Air Filter part#s

Napa P/N - FIL9946

Wix P/N - 49946

Dodge P/N - 53034249AA

For some reason I cant find the Cummins/Fleetguard part# right now, but I'm sure someone else will chime in with it.

The "big" 5.9 filter, Napa 9946 is 10.75"x10"x4", the 6.7 Napa 6930, is 10.93"x9.91"x4.38".

It fits fine.

NAPA about once a year, usually in the fall, puts their filters on sale. The vast majority of theirs are made by WIX (I know this is a Geno's sponsored site, so I don't want to step on any toes) and I keep an ongoing shopping list for filters for ALL of my vehicles and can save quite a bit of money waiting until the filter sale to buy stuff. I store the filters in a closed plastic container in my shop to keep out bugs and critters. oil and fuel filters I put in zip lock bags and back in their boxes to keep excess moisture out of them also.

Depending on the year the Wix fuel filters don’t meet the minimum filtration spec required by Cummins/Dodge/Ram.
