Since my new Denver Off Road game slayer is on the way I'm planning to buy some decent off road lights to better see what I'm about to hit :D .

I'm gonna be spending some time in Deer and Moose country driving at night in the stix so I'm lookin for BRIGHT and am not worried about road legal lights. I did a search and found some good recommendations but is there any "latest and greatest" in off road lights or good sites to buy from online?

I've got a Back Rack to mount lights on and would like to put some pencil beams for up top for distance and wider (flood) beams in the bumper for ditches.

Thanks in Advance

Check out the Light Force lights. They focus like a mag light and they come in 3 different sizes. They have diffuser lenses to spread the light and different colours for different applications. I have a 9 inch set and they can shine well over 2 miles and you still can see. If you don't like the Light Force, I think the PIAA's are the best bet. Just my 2 cents worth.

I bought a Ranchhand brand bumper a little over a year ago and wanted off-road lights for it. At the time price was a big factor for me, but I found some IPF brand lights at a local 4x4 shop, only 55watts, but man they seem alot more powerful. The shop I bought them from was selling them like hot cakes to the jeep crowd. I have been very pleased, I flip them on and can see anything, tried using them on the highway one night when noone was in sight just out of curiosity and the reflection from the road signs was bad, I mean like someone has their highbeams in your eyes bad. Anyway, I like them. I am sure there are better ones out there, but these were just under $90 and have not failed once. I have pics in my gallery if you want to see them mounted.

Here's a link for the specific ones I bought

Good Luck in finding something you like.

I second the light force lights. I have a pair of the 170's (6. 5 inch I think) and they are awesome. Especially for the price. You definitely don't want to use them on the road at least not if anyone is around.

Thanks for the Info.

I'm really liking the Light Force lights mostly because of the adjustable lenses. I wonder if I could shoehorn a couple of 9. 5"ers into the DOR bumper.

Anyone have any comments on the 240 HID Blitz lights? 1. 5-million Candlepower from a 2. 92-amp Draw how can that be?

Here a link .

Still trying to find somewhere on line that sells Light Force.

Thanks Again.

Woodenhead:

Not sure if those bad boys will fit or not on the DOR. I just went out and did a quick measurement. I think if you put a spacer under the mount of say 1/2-1 inch it will fit but not sure if the mounting studs are long enough to accomodate that or not. Then again with the light being larger the mount is going to sit lower so it may be fine. The only issue is the bottom cross bar of the brushgaurd. My 170 (7 inch) lights have about 1" clearance on the bottom. If I recall they have some measurement specs on the website.

By the way I got mine from www.central4wd.com. Another thought that comes to mind is putting a 1/2 thick strap across the DOR mounting studs and drill holes for the light mount studs where you need them.

BarryG thanks for the info. and for taking the time to measure up your bumper. I guess you've got the RMDL170's, do they get the job done pretty good? 1. 5 million candle power per light seems pretty cool but it looks like the 170's will fit better.

I'm gonna order 4 RMDL170's from central4x4 tonight, two for up top and two for the bumper, I like lotsa light. The price doesn't look too bad and FREE SHIPPING!

There's a link to the light force site in my post above.

BarryG has a link to Central4WD above which is where you can buy em.

The more I read about the light force lights, the more I like em. Here's a link with a great review of them. http://www.4x4wire.com/reviews/lightforce/ Says they even shot em with a . 22 at close range, no hole on the lense just a dimple. :D

The lights definitely light up well. The lenses actually have a plastic cover over them that you can take off and replace with the different colored ones. The mounting mechanism is great I have not noticed any shake in them at all and have never had to readjust them after aiming them originally.

I have a set of 170's mounted below the bumper. I have them mounted low to give me a little more time to kill the Light Force lights when I meet a vehicle at close range over a hill.

The only problem I have had is moisture inside the lens. I talked directly to the North American distributer in Idaho. They have been helpful and stand behind their product. At their suggestion I removed the cover where the wires enter the base and filled this with silicon. Problem solved. They replaced the the reflectors at no cost to me.

I use the lights whenever I can. They are bright and I turn them off well in advance when I meet traffic. As far as the filters are concerned, I use one clear regular and one clear combo. The combo spreads the beam better then the clear regular with the beam spread out by screwing the lens similar to a maglight flashlight. I have tried the amber and blue lens. The amber is okay in fog and snow, but I find the blue is to dark.

I got mine from Rod at Wildcat Diesel. He is starting to sell them.
