Actually Tom, the torque spec. was amended to 40 lbs. ft. from either of the two previous torque specs. (60 lbs. ft. and later, 44 lbs. ft. ). If I were you, I would torque the drain plug to no more than 35 lbs. ft. (30 lbs. ft. is adequate), as I checked the drain plug flange with a dial indicator while incrementally tightening it to 40 lbs. ft. (PRIOR to switching to the Femco/Geno's Garage EZ Drain, drain plug). I found that the flange started to distort between 35 and 40 lbs. ft. of torque. As I have stated many times before on this BB as well as on the old CDW BB, the OE drain plug is of a very poor design (and/or fabricated of less than optimum grade steel) to adequately handle the specified torque value.
