I have a 99 stock dodge dually, having an intermittent issue with the oil gauge. It drops to zero then after a bit shoot to the high line of normal range. Also when it is at high range, when I go to restart the truck the gauge is reading pressure before the truck is running. I think it is shorting to each extreme, I have checked the pressure it read 45 at start and drops to 38 during idle. This would be the 2nd sender, the original went bad 2 years ago.

Any comments and whether these 99 senders just have problem?

Ok found lots of past postings on this issue. Need to get a manual gauge installed; what is low, idling and operating oil pressure? Oo.
