Went for a 200 mile drive, when I parked I noticed oil splattered all over the rear of the rig. I was down a couple quarts of oil too. What do you suppose is going on?

Check your blowby first. If you don't see any obvious oil spill that is.

I had a friend whos malfunctioning PacBrake created excess blowby thus creating an eventual low oil condition.

Thanks Mac, I think you are on to something there. When I got into town I was running with my EB on and when I stopped the engine died, the next couple stops that I made the engine was idleing rough and almost dying. Today I drove all over the place and left the EB off and the truck ran smooth. I know I do have a small blow by problem too though. Do you have a clue what the problem is with the pacbrake? It's kinda nice having it especially when I'm towing

something about a malfunctioning valve. This was not on the Pacbrake itself but the valve thats hooked up to the air lines that enable the exhaust brake to work.

Sorry I do not know much about exhaust brakes.

I'll ask my friend when he gets back from Florida next week.

Someone else may know what valve I'm talking about.

Its more than likely something with the vaccuum system. Prob a vac leak, causing the vac pump to pressurize the crankcase and create blow by.

thats my bet anyways!

THATS IT!!!! :D

It was a vacuum switch, not a valve.

On my friends truck it wouldn't open all the way and it created pressure in the crankcase. This caused alot of Blowby.

He ordered a replacement vacuum switch and everything was all better.

Thanks pwerwgn.

Thats a good find since my mechanic told me if you drive with positive pressure on the crankcase you stand a good chance of needing new main seals!!

this is true, but almost always the first thing to go on a 12V, and 24V ISB VP44 is the tappet cover gasket, especially if the gasket is in poor condition in the first place, this happend on my truck when the head gasket blew, i got it all back together, got the head seated and found that i had a oil leak. the front and rear seals will take a little bit of pressure, but not much.

No I didn't figure it out yet, I received a lot of feedback that it might be this or it might be that but not certain. I did however solve the problem in a different way, I ordered a new truck Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.
