Thanks, TDR Staff

What is the limit and why????

Boost pressures and EZ?????????

I don't even know if Sickly's turbo is spinning at idle

I think my clutch is worthy. It doesn't slip on the dyno but I can slip the dyno brake (Dynojet uses locomotive brake shoes inside the drum. ;)

I have no idea what my max boost and EGTs are. the 60psi boost gauge gets pegged in 3rd then the egts rise some where in fourth. By that time I'm looking for the brakes trying to get the beast shutdown.

The EGT gauge is the last of my worries:cool:

Between the cam, pump twins and clutch it's just plain mean:D:D

I know what you are up to. I hope it makes you feel better because it is a pretty sorry way to deflect attention.

been like 6 months on those triples--seems like he better get the twins to work first-I wonder if he's in over his head at this point-I can't imagine the guy who's truck he's working on is looking upon all this with smiles-chris

Day before The DFW dyno day last week, i decided to go see Mark Kendricks shop for a couple of reasons. One was to see my buddy Merrick, and get to talk to him about things other then trucks as the next day would be nothing but truck talk. :D Another was to see what kind of shop Mark has. While I was there, he showed me the manifold that had arrived the day before for that truck. Also he showed me the three ball-bearing turbos.

I will say this, I think even IF Mark's work is sub-par, the truck will be a fun ride. The trick to it will be how he decides to set them up(never talked to him about it).

In any case, the final result should be intresting, or make some intresting reading that is. :D

:),

The twins have been working fine for more than a year. I'm not over my head. . just really busy.

When you start building power instead of buying it you'll understand.

Mark--your in over your head if you're too busy to keep on top of what should've been done a long time ago---nice try on buying vs building--I built the first set of twins using the B1 1. 5 yrs ago--only thing I bought from HVAC was the big turbo---I'd be careful about saying your twins have been working for a year when they seem to puke at each dyno event you attend---that my friend doesn't build a lot of confidence in one's product--chris

My twinned 24v won the event last year. This year I shouldn't have gone. I had enough problems with customer trucks that I was doing good to get there much less bring a truck... and it showed, unfortunately:rolleyes:

I'm not in over my head. . I've been waiting for parts. There was over 4 months wasted waiting on the turbos then about 45 days on the exhaust manifold. The biggest problem you run into is when the parts do finally show up you are in the middle of something else.

BTW fellas... started mounting the triples, they bring a new meaning to tight fit:eek:

I owe Mark an apology. My post on Friday about resurrecting this thread was meant in good fun, not as a slam against Mark or his products. The unfortunate showing he had at the dyno day was not his fault and I can attest to that. I too pulled a couple of all nighters getting other people's trucks ready for the event and his truck was not ready to go. It was purposely put on the back burner so that other people would have good results at the dyno day.

I know that his twin turbo systems work because I have seen it myself on more than one truck. Mark's truck's lack of power on the dyno was not the result of the twins not working. There are other issues with the truck that he did not have time to correct before the dyno event. Instead of going into detail about it, I will leave it at that becuase this is not the place for it. But suffice it to say that I know there are other problems with the engine which warrant some work to correct so that it will make serious power on the dyno.

My comments on Friday were obviously taken the wrong way by a number of people on the TFR, so I retract them. I was not thinking when I wrote them because if I had been I would have never posted them in a public forum, as I did. My apologies to Mark and the TDR audience.

As for the triples truck, it is in the works and new fab work takes time when everyone involved in it has other priorities with work, parts sourcing, et al. The truck is coming along now that everything is finally here for it. And, yes, it will take some shoehorning to get it all under the hood. I expect the end results to be impressive and a vindication of what I know Mark's true abilities to be in the quest for diesel power.

Merv just made 627 on DIESEL ONLY!!!

I just talked to Merv (HuffnPuff). He dyno'd at 627 a day ot two ago after installing a new set of DonM's injectors.

He dyno'd at 572rwhp and ran a 12. 82@107 in his 6800# 2500SWB QC 4x4 24v auto with a smaller set of Don's injectors

That yields.....

Using the ET method,638 horsepower

Using the Speed method, 650 horsepower

Both runs were on a dynojet, diesel only. Why is the Dyno off by ~10%????????????

The HP he is actually putting to the ground is over 50hp above the dyno.

He's got a full on transmission . . i forget who's. . a set of my twins using hx35/40-14 & BHT3B-26, ATS manifold, DonM injectors, Drag comp, ported, fireringed, banjos gone. . there's more little stuff.

fyi...

http://www.fastcoolcars.com/hp_calculator.htm

from ... http://www.geocities.com/spcofsparta/hpcalculator.html

Horsepower Results - 1/4 Mile Method

Your ram 2500 weighs about 6800 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 12. 82 seconds. That means that you've got about 637. 87 HP at the wheels, and about 829. 23 HP at the flywheel.

I found this on another site...

The ET method

This method uses the weight of the car and the time it took that car to travel 1330 feet (¼ mile).

The formula is: hp = weight / (ET / 5. 825)3

The Trap-speed method

This method uses the weight of the car and the speed at which the car completed the quarter-mile run.

The formula is: hp = weight * (speed / 234)3

Mark,

Using the calculators my truck last year would have 851 RWHP and 1064 HP at the flywheel..... Yet the best I dynoed last year was 764 RWHP. There is no way that my truck made over 850 RWHP last year! As for Merv putting over 50 more HP to the ground than what he dynoed... ... I don't think so, he made what he made and 625+ is a great run but lets not distort the facts.

Now as for Merv, CONGRATULATIONS! Merv is a great guy and has one great running truck.

How do you argue with physics???

it takes a definite and exact amount of power to accelerate a known mass through a distance in a set period of time.

If your truck weighs 6800# and you finish the 1320ft in 12. 82 sec@107mph

then...

hp = weight / (ET / 5. 825)3

=6800/(12. 82/5. 825)^3

=6800/10. 6604

=637. 8hp

it is physically impossible to move that amount of material that distance in that period of time without generating at least 637hp.
