I think that may be a mistake. I think they may be talking about the Dakota R/T I think it was. There was a lowered Dakota that they overrated the towing capacity on and bought back a whole bunch of em. There's no way that 5,000 lbs was over what a 3500 could handle!!

Only believe about Half to 1/4 of what you read in the Houston Chomical. They have a section that is generally full from the previous days retractions and corrections. They run it on the inside of the front page. This is probably one of the worst Papers in the country. It is ran by an old Liberal Democrat Houston family who loves to show how little people supposidly win against the big bad corporations. I'm surprised they didn't make it Front page!!!!

Well, I can make a 3500 jerk vioently when towing 5k, just go from slamming the breaks to flooring the throttle. Now, if they were dumb enough to do that, they didnt deserve that truck. I can see a dakots having a hard time pulling 5k, but only the driver could make a 3500 notice it was there.

What engine did it have in it? If it was v-6 or small v-8 maybe.
Only way Cummins wouldn't handle it, is the throttle problems(linkage, cable).
Transmision problem maybe.
Why a big settlement? Did they total the truck, injuries(whiplash because of jerking truck)? Loose their business?
