FASS Serial # 4831 & up have new Non Servicable "brushless" motors.
Serial # 3862 & up have High Pressure Relief Valve... to protect against clogged filters, etc.
Serial # 2546 & up have 5/8" "Buna" ball in return lines, instead of 3/4"... which sometimes leaked... causing low pressure readings, I think?
Update kits are in the works... don't know the timetable.
Diesel_Dan said:The new motors do have brushes, but better in design than the past motors. The motor is sealed TONS better and moisture cant get in to aid in electrolysis that was causing the older motor brushes to stick. Bad grounding was also an issue... but that was resolved with the updated harness with the relay and direct connection to the BATT for pos and Neg.
We went from the 3/4" ball to the 5/8" ball due to priming issues after a filter change. Would not catch prime due to the 3/4" ball would stick up in the tight corners in the housing.
We are looking into an update program at the moment for anyone that wants to get the newer T-Block and Motor. More info to come..... as soon as we get some other irons our of the fire... ...![]()

PS: Anyone know for sure the micron rating on the Baldwin BT-372 MPG?? I read in my Baldwin Dealers manual that it's 5 micron. Whatever it is... does not cause me any extra loss of FP, vs. the 10 micron that came with my 95 gph FASS.
steved said:And as with anything new introduced... no matter how much testing is done, the "real" testing comes when the unit is placed into service on a truck that sees temps from -25*F to 115*F, getting shaken around, salt sprayed on, stones kicked at, etc... this kind of testing is too costly to reproduce in the lab and you cannot justify testing XXX units to see if all of them behave in the same manor. In most cases a certain amount of "real world" testing is done by the consumers... the first rendition of the FASS is a good example (if they had tested them in all conditions, they would have seen that there was a potential issue with the brushes, correct???)
steved said:And there is very little in the way of replacements for the screen filter... only Fleetguard (FS1023), Baldwin (BF7760), and DPP have replacements... there is a Napa (3691) that will fit, but has no drain... I also found another napa that will fit (don't remember the number)... but it filters to 15 microns but does have a petcock drain... really a "combined" unit.

the threads on the filters are 1 1/2"-16 like the fass filters, but they are 5" diam filters so they might not fit. [link is a pfd file]
norman filter company
price i don't know though...
