You should be able get a different bed for alot less than that, assuming it is the same color.

Kind of a big dent, but I pulled out a dent with a toilet plunger on a Olds Cutlass. Might be able to get most of it pulled out.

I had a similar but smaller dent in the same place. Old lady in a '72 Buick - I'm not kidding. Dent didn't extend up as far as yours but bowed the molding ridge. $650 at the best shop in town. Seems strange that yours would cost 4x to repair even tho it's larger. Maybe one of our more knowledgeable TDR gents can give you an online estimate.

I can hear those exact words right now!

My son looks to be about the same age and he always has to come running in to tell me how Mommy ran over another shopping cart..... poor Durango.

I've seen ads here locally for "take-off". Beds stacked high, that were removed for optional beds.

Find one of those.

Time for a flat bed!! You can get a nice 8 footer for under 2k. Then you would just have a picture of a damage tree.

I hate those hit an run kinda trees!! I have or I guess had one, it was cut/burned the first year in the house.

Sorry about your truck. I would talk to Craig, he is the man. If he can't fix it for you he will know someone that will.

I just wrote a quick estimate for you. Right outer box side is $742. 00 & 14. 8 hours labor time to replace. Refinish is 5. 2 hours & includes clear coat. R&I topper for 1. 0. Corrosion protection & hazardous waste disposal (epa) included. This est was figured at $50. 00 an hour for labor & refinish & $26. 00 per hour for paint & material. I come up with a grand total of $2,008. 90. I was a bodyman for 10 years & i currantly work for an insurance company as a damage appraiser. I did not figure blend time for the rt side adjacent panels to obtain a color match & your shop might have & this could be the differance. I just went to the computer & added blend to the rt side cab corner & the rt rr door & my new grand total is $2,172. 74. Your estimate appears to be a little high but without looking at the vehicle & giving it a thourough inspection i cant say for sure. That dent is a pretty big dent to try & repair since your dealing with several body lines & if it was my truck i would want a new box side. Good luck.

Thanks for all off your support in my time of crisis. :)

There is some damage to the quad cab door and the cab frame behind the quad door that is hard to see in this picture. So that maybe why it's a little higher than some of you suspected it would be.

I have to get an insurance company repair quote before I decide what to do. I leaning toward trying to pop it out myself and deal with it until I find a used bed.

Keep an eye out for used beds I probably make a post asking everyone to look as soon as I have the money.

As far as the tree goes the insurance guy asked me if there was any damage to the tree because the owners are intitled to up to $100,000 for damage to their property. I told him I planned in taking my chainsaw over there and burning the tree in my wood burning stove.

I've emailed a picture to Craig and asked him about paintless dent repair and here was his reply.

<<HOLY MACEREL!!! That's a big dent! Uhhhh, better get Maaco? I think that's a little beyond paintless dent repair. That thing may have frame damage! Geez, what kind of tree did you say it was? A giant sequoia?

WOW. >>

New bed might be cheaper...

Quote from Sandbrew: "Is it cheaper to just find a used bed?"

Well, I know you're mad at her - but why are you going to kick her out of the bedroom and stick her in a used bed? I'm sure that when you first saw the damage, you were  and she was :{ . But the way lawyers are today, you don't want to risk losing your truck in a settlement. Better to just give her a hug and forgive her; you'll live to drive another day.

Oh, wait. Did you mean the TRUCK bed?!?! :D

hey check with companies that put differnt beds on truck up here sometimes you can get a replacement bed from truckwell they put flatbeds and utility boxes on trucks.

you might be able to get a bed from a place like that and get it painted for less than the replacement of the bed side

This is the best I could do in the "Paint Shop" on short notice

Hope you don't mind me playing with your pic. I paid good money for the program, might as well use it... . :)

Nice work Master... if it was only that easy!

Rottn,

I had the chainsaw out today and cut about a 1/2 cord of logs from trees I cleared last spring. It felt good to hack up some bad trees. I'm waiting until the blade is nice and dull so it hurts that aspen tree more... :)

I sure hope no tree huggers read this... . what am I thinking this is TDR not the PETA site.
