I do not think a Smarty will damage any component on your engine! When I decided to install a Smarty (S67) in 2009 I did extensive researcher on tuners. MAD'S stated that they did extensive testing on the Smarty Software before releasing this to users. So, I purchase the Smarty from MAD's electronics and I have had this on my truck since 2009 without any issues. I did a review of the Smarty for another user back in 2012 and this is from that review to the user which said.
"Per the MADS Site and I quote.
Tested on stock trucks on our in house Dyno Dinamics Twin
Retarder Dyno.
Stock means just that. Stock! Even the air filters were stock...
We checked the "baseline" ( the stock truck hp at the rear
wheels ) twice in a day in order to be sure about our findings.
The above declared hp numbers are all rounded down to the
closest number. For example the 90 hp file actually did 96 hp.
That's a 90 hp software for me, not a 100. The 170hp was 176.
End quote.
So, if the Smarty could damage anything I believe that MAD'S would have fixed this problem before releasing this to the general public.
I also have noted in the past that I am My Own Warranty Station. Once you install a tuner on the engine you have voided your engine warranty.
