Not sure of other years, but in 97 there was NO option for two tone on the 3500

Sorry, not true. My 97 3500 is white over driftwood. Bought it new and have seen several like it, including some 98s.

I have been trying to decide what color to paint mine. The driftwood is fading and the white on top of the cab is peeling. I think changing the lower color will be no big deal since the interior door frames are white. I'd like to get the name and # of the paint shop. The valley is a short trip for that kind of deal.

Very nice looking job, and the hood stripe is

Interesting, could it have been a "dealer two tone" job? I have seen a very few, but like mine, they were home made two tones. I have a dealer brochure for the 97s and it indicated that there was no such choice. I also had a dealer brochure for the 1969 cars, that clearly said there were no 69 Sport Fury convertibles, yet I owned one, so the brochures aren't the last word for sure.

I owned a body shop in your town back in 1966-8, right back of the current Luby's across the tracks (at least there was a Luby's there last time I was up that way. ) Sure painted lots and lots of cars there, charged $100 and made a profit! The new car dealer body shops just hated me.

He painted the inside of the doors and frames white, and the underside of the hood and components aqua. There is absolutely no indication left that it was ever a green truck.

Not unless they went to the trouble of making an underhood Chrysler vehicle equipment sticker showing primay paint and secondary paint codes, VIN and all the other info. It was built 2/97 and I bought it in March 97 so it wasn't on the lot for long.

The first time I was at Ft. Hood was 1966. Didn't have a car then, and saw very little of Killeen. I came back in 1974 and spent many years here on and off. Lubys was the scene of a massacre in about 92, and was a catalyst for the concealed gun laws we have in TX now because some gal named Hupp convinced the powers that be that if she had had a gun in her purse then so many people wouldn't have been shot.

If you don't want to post the paint shop's name and # I'd be happy with a PM. Thanks.

Well, got her back from the paint shop, still got to put on the bull bumper and some stuff, but I am totally happy with the old girls "new look". . What do you think?

Looks great! I like it alot. Looks like a different truck. One question though..... Is your rear bumper bent? Something looks funny there?

Boy are you ever sharp. What happened is that when putting on the fender flares the bumper had to be moved back an inch or so. I was too lazy to burn some new holes, so just picked a couple of holes that lined up. Usually the truck camper is on and covers it up, so I never get interested in fixing it correctly.

I will have to get his number. He is close by and I have lost his telephone number. Understand this is not a normal commercial shop, you get a quote, pay half up front, remainder when finished - all in cash. If that bothers you, you should know up front.

I will get his number tomorrow if I get time, got a couple of doc appts.

I like the new paint job Don. I saw a 1/2T Ram just yesterday with your paint scheme (minus the hood stipe of course).

A friend a mile away has a '97 3500 that's driftwood cab/hood and emerald green sides/rocker panels. It was built early in the model year (august 1996), pretty sure it came that way.
Maybe 2-tone 3500s aren't common there but I've seen plenty of them around the NW.

Thanks for the compliment, we just love it. Going to paint the truck camper to match soon too, should have the fiberglass topper on tomorrow. . I was quoting direct from the dealer brochure I had for 1997, and it has been pointed out that it was not necessarily correct! Two tone ones are quite rare though in my part of the country, maybe it was a factory order only or something. They called this Aqua Pearl Metallic, only used it in 95 and 96 apparently.

Hi Don,

Glad you called. Good to hear the ole girl is still humming. The paint job is awesome! I don't care for aqua but there is enough white to temper the aqua and it looks really fine. Should be easier to find in the parking lots. Better be setting way out in center field or someone in an old rusty Ford will ding the doors or send a cart sailing across the lot. You will like the white cab as it will be cooler in your sun. Mine is white and I was amazed at how much cooler the cab stayed when in the sun.

Still like my 04, just turned 102,000. Our only vehicle so it's on the road all the time.

Take care and stay in touch. Really like your new ride.

So far it is HARDER to find in the parking lots, I am looking for a green truck. The white was on purpose for a cooler truck, it has made a noticeable difference, down here the sun shines all the time.

For information of all, R K Nichols is the guy who lovingly cared for my truck most of its life, and now I am reaping the rewards for his care and updates during his stewardship.

You bet I do. I can sit on my patio and stare it down! We just love it, I come up with some sort of phony trip almost every day just to drive it around! Going on la 2000 mile trip next week, can hardly wait!

Thanks for the compliment!

Very nice! Sharp truck man. ;) Ever catch yourself just staring at it yet? My wife laughs at me every time I clean it up & have a staring contest with it. :-laf

More Paint

Just could not stand the pickup camper not matching the truck, so I had some Aqua Pearl Metalic splashed on it yesterday, now it matches.

I was just searching for pics exactly like these, so THANKS!!! I'm buying a white 96 2500 club cab 2wd and have always loved the aqua over white paint. Mine will get this treatment soon.

Found these on ebay last year. When I ordered my 96 it was supposed to be painted like this. Dealer keyed wroung paint code, mines white on top and red on bottom. hope the pictures get posted, its my first trying to post with pics... ... .
