40 foot gooseneck

Need 3 cars hauled from ALBQ, to Roch, NY

Well I think for the first attempt at Towing twins it was a big success. For some reason which I learning about now it didn't show an increase on the dyno but temps are down and speed is up in the hills so that tells me it is in deed working. The system seems to really shine as you get into higher elevation although the max boost does drop it starts out so much higher that your boost is where a good single would be at sea level. It normally runs between 45 and 50 lbs at 1200 degrees at 1000' and below and at 4500' it runs between 35 and 40.

Cliffman and I usually run about the same speed up most grades but this trip (we now run 1200 degrees instead of 1300) I can just walk away from him with the twins. I will be trying a few more combinations soon to see if it can be improved on but so far I would have to say it is a very nice improvement.

The daily unloaded drivabilty of the system is far better than any larger than stock single I have ever run. Remember I am still running a stock head gasket with studs and 55 lbs max boost so far no problems. This is to keep the cost of adding twins down for the average guy or gal who just wants the added benefit of twins and doesn't need huge boost.

Thanks so much to Piers at Piers Diesel Research and Jason at Northwest Custom for helping me with this project.

Boy howdy  I'm here to tell ya he pulled Bakers Grade coming out of Las Vegas like it was nothing. Higher elevations slow me down but not the BP Twins. My slowest speed pulling that hill was 42 mph @ 1200 on the pyro. I think Blair pulled between 55 and 60 @ 1200 degs. That's a huge gain in my opinion. Good job Blair! Can't wait til I get mine. Problem is, I'm on spending groudation. :( :( :(

They are working very well I have been towing a bit you could say. I just changed the oil the other day and you can change the oil filter without taking a single pipe off, another added benifit of the PDR twins.

And the 64 thousand dollar question. . . HOW MUCH! Still pulling 5er's over Parleys Summit, still easily looking at 1,400 EGT. I need help, fast.

Cheers,

Steve J

I can now pull the same grades I used to about 3 to 5 miles an hour faster but at about 100 to 150 degrees less. I used to run about 35 lbs of boost now I am at 45 to 50 lbs. I used to run at 1300 or slightly above on the big grades but now run 1150 to 1200. It seems to really shine in the higher elevations.
