OK critters, the feedback is thumbs up!

---------------------------------------------
Hi Nowel, I received the module today and installed it after work. All I have to say is nice piece! I do not have any other mods to compare it to but my
vote goes in as a very good product that delivers what is claimed. The truck runs as it should now! Thanks for all your help and do email me as soon as
the Timing Module that will enhance this module is available. I want one as soon as it is available.
---------------------------------------------
This is the special HVAC spec adult version of the Power Edge of course (I am being me). You others will recieve the pedestrian version which may or may not be adequate to protect you from PSD cannibals #ad
(I am being silly, don't listen to me hehe)

On a serious note, the feedback has been great, I would not be comfortable with anything else.

Uh oh, Kick your butt power
I dropped a link on the floor, can you pick that up for me #ad

Kat, check that last link, I'm outta control #ad

I do love the attention, especially if I have something to offer in the way of info or a tested product.

Briar Hopper, your stuff is gone. Check the MAP sensor connections though, the 2001 has a flat connector.

David_VT, the timing module will be available to those who purchase the PE from me for peanuts. It can easily be trunked to the PE for the full monty. #ad

Hey HVAC,

Are we ready to Rock N Roll. #ad
After much reading I’ve decided to add the exhaust and turbo after the Poweredge is installed.

2001 Driftwood 3500 Quad Cab 4x4, Long Bed, 5. 9L HO Cummins Diesel (ETH), 6-Speed HD Manual (DEE), 3:54, SLT+, 3. 54 Anti-Spin Axle, Camper Special Group, Trailer Tow Group, 18,000 LB 5th Wheel Hitch, Leather, Sliding Rear Window, BDs E-Brake, Rhino Liner, Ready to BOMB.

Cliffman, your 2001 Power Edge is here with your name on it #ad
The gauges are due tomorrow. The hard part is the 2 gauge w/tweeter pillar. Anybody got any help?

Cliffman -

Slow down there, why do you want to change the turbo? If exhaust and PowerEdge is your only mod then I don't think you should be so quick to change the turbo. UNLESS you need it to keep your EGT in check. But bigger is gonna be "slower" until you reach a certain perfomance level. Just goving you fair warning...

HVAC,
What's the story on Edge Products? Who are these guys, what's their background (electronics, mechanics, engineers, worked for Cummins), is the testing done on the road, on the dyno or both? What about any kind of emissions testing - just a little curious?

Why isn't a factory style connector used like the VA?

Feed me info before I will hop on a band wagon.

Brian

HVAC & KD (others too):

I have a 2001 5sp Short bed 2500. Only addition I made was an ARE Alumium canopy. I do use it for towing a 27' TT, And use at work loadng up the miles already have 9100 in 7. 5 weeks. I would like to see a little bit more HP & Torque. Mileage is averaging 15. 8 around the hills I'm in all the time, but when I get to drive the flatlands it climbs right up to 19-21. I was told just by having a pump shop adjust my pump pressure up a touch I can accomplish the same thing, is this true or even a wise thing to do? So many questions, so little time.

I just got my Power Edge today (thanks HVAC!)
and it's fantastic ! it does everything they say it does... the power is unbelievable, makes the stock truck feel like a dog. last time I felt acceleration like this was in Stack'd N' Jack'd 's truck at the Muncie event. And I only had it on the 2nd setting ! Haven't tried it on 3rd setting yet.
ONE BIG BUMMER THOUGH ! The 12V power lead came loose while the truck was running, and I now have a check engine light on there...
The joy's about gone right now, I'm wondering what to do about it. Can anyone tell me how I get it reset? Am I gonna have to remove it all and take it to the dealership? Can I drive it with the light on like that, and will the Power Edge still work with the fault code in place?

Briar Hopper, I suspect you set a code in the ECM due to a over boost reading. This would be due to the MAP signal clipping effect being non funtional as a result of the 12v power loss. The light will go out after a few start ups. The Power Edge will work fine regardless of the "Check Engine" light. Now go out there and Kill some PSD's!! #ad
#ad

Briar Hopper, I expect you have set a code in the ECM due to a high boost reading after you lost 12v power and the MAP signal control was lost. If you start the truck several times the light on the dash will go out. You will have no trouble with the Power Edge once you get the power supply reconneted. Thanks for the feedback #ad

Now go out there and kill some PSD's #ad

Received my Power Edge module the other day
and installed it yesterday. I took a few pics
with my digital camera that I may post elsewhere soon.

Results: Fantastic! I love the truck now more
than ever! Plenty of power. I gave a friend of mine a ride today and he said that my truck runs stronger and accelerates quicker that a truck it's size deserves to. Basically he got out after the ride giggling his ass of and shaking his head! He's quite impressed. (My truck is a 3500 QC 4x4, the heaviest RAM you can get).

Technical notes: EGT rises very quickly along with boost now. Have to watch the EGT very carefully since it is no problem to go beyond
1300 deg now. Stock the max I saw was 950, not towing. Max stock boost is 19 (ETC 5spd).
With the Edge on setting 3, max boost is 21
and starts surging (defueling) after a few seconds but acceleration is VERY strong for a
truck this size. I NEED A BOOST ELBOW! Or something. Any ideas? For those of you in the know, (TX Ram, HVAC?) I can take a pic of
my stock elbow going to the wastegate. I have
a 2001; the first part is brass, then a rubber hose.

I guess I need more boost, and 4" exhaust to keep the EGT in check. I hate having to back off the throttle to keep EGT below 1100 or so. Acceleration is no better than stock when I hold the pedal to maintain 1100 deg.

Sorry if this got too long! More info to come.

I am gonna call Taylor at Power Edge tomorrow and see what he has for me as far as a boost "faker"/module/elbow, whatever it's called now... #ad

HVAC, What is different about the Power Edge "Custom"?

chris , interesting note on the defueling at 21 psi , i would have assumed more boost with the edges boost module , but i assume you need the elbow to get full advantage of more boost by defeating the wastegate dumping to soon . you luckily have a turbo with the elbow , yours must be an early '01 that still had the hx35 , i have seen an '01 auto with the new turbo that does not have the elbow . if HVAC can't get you an elbow call ted jannetty , he has them also , i think they are 10 bucks , for a test you could dissconnect the wastegate line and block it , this should allow more boost . i don't have an edge yet but with the elbow , redneck boost module , 275's and VA i get 32 psi.

I saw the keyword in your post! "I don't have the PowerEdge YET" !! #ad

Gumma -

Ok, Since you tow the first thing I would install would be Boost and EGT gauge. Then the PowerEdge would be a "healthy" choice because of its 3 different levels of power you can apply which you can change at anytime by pushing a button. What it will do for diesel milage I can't say as I only have 2500miles on my truck and I am lucky to get 16mpg (Auto, 4. 10ratio, Heavy right foot). Just read the testomonials here of people have that have them one their trucks now. It has a 60 Day Money Back garentee so if you try it and don't like it you have 60 days to get your money back. The only "intrusion" it will leave is a pinhole on one of the pump wires. Regarding upping the pressure in the pump, on our trucks its kinda difficult because our pumps are electronic. Not real sure of the specifics s I don't want to say too much. I believe on the 12v trucks you just slap in a new camplate and tada more power. I hope this helps you out, anymore questions post here or directly email HVAC or myself.

Wowzy -

The custom will have a "custom" fuel curve loaded into it, for use with different items or different applications. To get the best answer to this question I suggest emailing Brett at Edge and asking him directly. As I just have the "Standard" PowerEdge for now.

I got a call today from Taylor. He got word about my above post and took the time to call
me first, before I had a chance to call them!
Now that is customer service! #ad

Basically, I need a boost elbow. Taylor is sending me one and when it get back from my
4 days on the road (work) I will install it
and post the results here.

Some more notes on the Power Edge module. I
noticed that the cruise control was very abrupt adjusting vehicle speed with the Edge
on. I remember reading about that problem with some of the other boxes and/or injectors. The nice thing about the PE is that it can be turned off from inside the cab
so the cruise will work like normal. If you feel the need for speed, just tap the button and BAM! yer gone! Bye bye PSD #ad

I LOVE this Power Edge ! The trucks should come this way from the factory !
The grins-&_giggles factor is really high with this mod, my son and I couldn't stop laughing, even after we parked the truck. No PowerJokes yet to race, but I might find one today when I go run an errand in the big city, #ad

The accidental disconnection of the 12V lead was my fault, and not a result of the product or anything, so if any of you are thinking of getting one, what are ya waiting for? The quality is great, and the level of service from HVAC can't be beat !

Chris,

It looks like you did get lucky with the turbo. I now have a new 2001 that came with the HY35, for which there is no elbow. Anyone know how to adjust the wastegate on the HY35?

HVAC, here's a question you may have already answered, but I couldn't find it:

Does the PowerEdge box's boost module work when the box is powered off? In other words, since you're running DD3's do you get more than 20 lbs of boost with the box off?

Any word on the timing module?

Can the PE propane option be added later -- after you already own a regular PE box?

Thanks.

BigCarl64-I got my PE today, and had no elbow in parts box as indicated by the directions. SOOO- I called PE, talked to Brett. He said to CUT the line going to the wastegate powerhead, and plug the lines with somebodys epoxy. We all know that this will certainly work, but I'm trying to be as stealthy (sneaky) as I can. So I'm gonna find some other way to acomplish the same end result, and also restore to operation if I need DC warranty work. Ron
