I have found new powerpucks for a steal (299. 95). I know there have been numerous threads on this, but I wanted to know how they perform for towing, daily driving, etc. , and has anyone been able to get ahold of the software to reprogram them? I hate to pass up a good deal if it is a good unit. If not, how about the superchips microtuner?

One of my good friends had one in his 2001 ETH/DEE. His came with the boost fooler and boost elbow. When he got it he put 4" exhaust on his truck at the same time. With just those two BOMBs he was able to pull 16 round bales (about 1000 lbs. each) on a 36' gosseneck trailer a little over 5,000 lbs at 70 mph all day. On about his 6th trip of hauling hay an exhaust valve on the #6 cylinder burned up and part of it went through the turbo.

He didn't have guages and both of us were new to owning diesels so we had no idea about EGTs which is what I now think caused the failure. He took the truck to a Dodge dealer and they slowly but surely gave him a brand new engine under warranty. He left the power puck on and told them about it and they said it didn't void the warranty. The old one only had 12,000 miles on it. After that he got rid of the power puck and went to a Banks system.

I also have something similar to the power puck from Bullydog technologies caled a Torque Dog. It looks the same and has the same advertised power numbers, so I'm not sure if there is any difference. I have had mine for about 60,000 miles and haven't had any problems. I do not have a boost fooler or elbow.

I would say they work good, but I would install some guages and keep an eye on your EGT. Especially if pulling with a boost elbow and fooler.

I got one from Truck Performance a few months ago. It did not make a Viper out of my Ram, but I could feel the extra power. I know I need gauges but with a baby on the way we moved up our trip out west and felt I would need the extra power. Truck did fine, went over the mountains with pedal to spare. Only let one Ford pass me the whole trip. That's just because I got nervous doing 80mph hauling my camper and pulling my junk. I passed him on every hill after that. JC
