Has anyone been able to find Large Rifle primers lately? I have a ton of pistol and small rifle primers, along with some magnum rifle primers. I've tried all the major players on line and in town. Any suggestions?

Best bet is going to be a gun show. Hold on to your wallet though. Best price I saw at a gun show back in July was $45 per 1000.

Back in early April, I ordered some large rifle and large rifle magnum primers from Powder Valley. They were already backordered when I placed my order. Shortly after that, they quit taking new orders. I just got notice that my order shipped on 1 Oct. They are still not taking new orders for many primers as they catch up on all the back orders. I did notice they are out of stock but taking orders for Winchester large rifle primers at $25 per 1000. Don't know how long they will take to be delivered, but it beats JRay's gun show price. Powder River says they still have 50 million primers on backorder, so hurry and get in line.

My local shop has had them trickling in lately, at $35/1000. The long dry spell just might be easing up a little.

I got the last 100 Winchester large rifle primers at a local shop today. They also had some Federal benchrest primers. $12/100! Ouch.

Earlier this year it was impossible to find large rifle primers in our area as well... even more difficult to get was CCI Large Rifle Benchrest grade primers. I called a friend of mine who works for Hornady in NE and she said while a lot of it is due to the Obama effect, a big portion of the backorder and bare shelves was due to military contracts. She told me the military contracts come first, then civilian orders can be filled. With civilian allotments in short supply, increased MIL contracts make it even tougher. Since the military re issued the newest varient of the M14 . 308 and all units supplied with them are also supplied with match grade ammunition, which uses CCI Benchrest Large Rifle Primers. thus making the already low supply of these, difficult at best to find.

Note: In the last 30 days, our Big R Ranch stores in Havre MT and Great Falls MT has gotten several cases of both Standard and Benchrest LR primers... I've personally gotten about 8 bricks in the last month, I'm good friends with their firearms manager... I'm not taking any chances and will keep buying as long as they are available... CCI LR is $34 per brick and Benchrest is a little over $48 per brick, my cost. Sheels Sporting goods is still limiting sales to 2 trays... or 200 primers. Cabelas in Billings also has the same limitations. If anyone is desparate, I can probably get primers for ya ! Shipping is another problem though... supposed to be shipped Hazmat

loading pistol i can burn thought that in 15 minutes with my dillon 650, that sucks! and the effect is not limited to primers as i have been on the hook for a month waiting for my supply store to get in some . 44 cal bullets so i can shoot my new toy (desert eagle), naturally i have enough . 45 and . 355 to start and finish WWIII but only had a little over 3 dozen 44 slugs on hand which wasn't enough to shoot a whole match at the local spot #@$%!

Most states have adopted the International Fire Code (IFC), usually with modifications. I'm not aware of any states that allow more than 10,000 primers to be stored in a residence (IFC 3306. 4. 2) . Montana has modified the limit for retail stores; Group M Occupancy. I don't expect you to be hauled off to jail, but I still wouldn't advertise anything like that on the internet. Of course this doesn't affect you since you only bought 8,000 and you reload enough to stay under the 10,000 limit at all times, right?

If you want to call it an infringement of your Second Amendment rights, Big Brother government intrusion in your personal life, or an overbearing nanny state, I won't argue, but you may encounter trouble at some time.
