John,

Thanks for the pics, very "enlightening". There's no clocking adjustment on the LEDs, but there's adjust I believe in the housing. Also could use Dremel on the tabs... they lock after slight turn.

Anyhoo, I'll be on it next week.

Christmas Cheers, Ron

I would get bulbs that you can clock, it’s crucial to LED performance.

I don't think you need to clock the projectors as the lens will take the light source and project it down to usable light via the lens. Sorta like when we used to fry ants with magnify glass .

Just installed the X2's in my 2018 non projector Ram. The 9005 bulbs wouldn't clock at 9/3 o'clock , Took the screw out of the plastic retainer hoping there was a tapped hole 90 degrees out of phase and there wasn't. Haven't had time to look at the beam pattern.

Paul,

The Bat Computer is starting to spit out possible solutions:
Modify the LED tabs with Dremel by cutting the two larger tabs down to the smaller size so it can be clocked in 33.3% increments so lamp can be clocked 3 and 9 o'clock.

Still have to see mine to see if workable. My Wrangler isn't locked, as partial turn to get proper orientation.

I still think you want them clocked, as the magnifying glass will work best when the sun hits it at the proper angle.

It would be easy to test thou, clock one side and not the other and see what the light looks like.

Had to pull this thread up by the threads(LoL). Well, the Amazon vendor sent me some different, brighter LED bulbs that I'll try Saturday. Right now, I have LEDs in the projectors and Halogens in the brights on the 5500. Saturday, I'm going to pull the grill (3rd time in last three weeks) and pop in the super bright LEDs on the drivers side and put all Halogen in the passenger side. RV is back in the stall, so this will be live test on the road. If I'm not completely satisfied, I'm going to return all of it the LED bulbs and treat myself to Morimoto, which is OEM quality IMHO.

My B'day is Monday, so for my 2014 Wrangler already bought and installed high quality LED headlights with engineered housings and fogs that look just like OEM. I'm way impressed, very nice projection, highs are like daylight, and with low beams no one flashed me like they did with the LED bulbs. I had LED bulbs in the OEM housings that were OK, but these are sweet. I kept the OEM tail lights with super bright LED bulbs as they are brighter than the aftermarket ones, but not harsh.

So, we'll see Saturday and post results.

EDIT: John: wanted to mention you've shown great results with bulbs, but I'm looking for LED quality campared to Ram 19+ OEM LEDs... My wife's 2019 1500 has the best healights ive ever seen... White daylight... never been flased in it. My bar is really high now.

Happy New Years Cheers! Ron

Looking forward to the results!!

I’ll also add that if you’re not getting flashed with the high beams on then something is wrong. The high beam pattern should blind oncoming drivers, since the point in them is to illuminate what the lows don’t. Some is vertical, some is depth, and some is horizontal.

I did put some cheap LED housings in my Jeep. They are awesome, but I’m curious how long they will last as they have plastic lenses. Just an experiment, but going on a year and quite happy.

Sorry got it confused, please re-read my edit. Low beams got flased a lot on my Jeep with LED bulbs... Now Low beams have great projection, no flashes from oncoming traffic. High beams are daylight.

thanks for the catch!

Makes a lot more sense!!

John,

I ordered 3 sets GTR Lighting CSP Mini 9005s on Ebay. Monday, I'll be return the LEDs I ordered from Amazon.

Thanks for all the help.

Friends,
I received the GTR 9005 Mini LEDs today and installed them properly clocked today on the drivers side only. See results on dark road:

Sorry, didnt get lows and fogs on wifes truck, Car turned onto road 1/8 mile behind me so left the scene.

On my 5500, I'll have to come back to tell you I think the left LEDs are $435 better than the right factory halogens. Passed traffic and didn't get flashed, which is why I installed them on the drivers side. Tomorrow night, going on longer drive in the country and some Interstate and will come back afterwards with my impression.

EDIT: I reviewed larger photos and am convinced these LEDs ARE better! Not so easy to discern them on my Smart Phone. I'm a happy camper.

Thanks for your help and participation.

Cheers, Ron

Friends,

Not going to EDIT previous post anymore, but at least for me, the 4.5 or 5th Gen Ram factory LED headlights set the bar for clarity, color, brightness, and coverage. The GTR are CLEARLY better than the factory halogens, I think y'all may agree on all these statements, or not... either way, happy to hear your opinons.

Hi Ron-

Thanks for posting the pictures! Just want to clarify where you put the GTR’s, in the low beam or fogs?
Thanks - Marty

Marty,

I installed them in the LB, HB and Fogs on the left (driver's side only) all GTR 9005s. The projectors LBs, and HBs have to be clocked (rotated) to be vertical and the fogs didn't require clocking. These are pricey, but the best thing short of a factory LED, which I also showed. Compare my pics to Morimoto website for $1630~ and I think you'll agree this is great. The GTRs can be clocked (rotated) with a small hex screw.

I purchased mine on Ebay and used PayPal cuz they have great protection. The Ebay vendor was great and responded I could return for a full refund if I didn't damage the product or packaging.

Got to go online and thank the seller and rate the product.

Cheers, Ron

Did your fogs line up? I had to clock mine.

I’m quite impressed with these bulbs, pricey but not crazy.

Once you have all 6 bulbs swapped out it will be an even bigger improvement.

John,
Didn't have to clock the fogs, they locked into place with wiring sticking straight down and from facory the LEDs are straight vertical in line with wire. I'm living proof you can't shortcut on LED bulbs... Very nice upgrade!

EDIT: Do you have the vertical or horizontal fogs? I have horizontal.

Thanks for finding and posting using GTRs... great find!

Cheers, Ron

Yes they are great bulbs. We had some heavy fog last week and they work great in that too, not too bright at all running fogs only. I did have to turn off my DRL’s thou, as the orange light was too bright.

I have the horizontal as well, vertical is 1500. My wiring was straight down, but the LED emitter wasn’t at 3:9 so I still had to clock the fogs.

Friends,

Just got done installing the last three LEDs and buttoning up. Last night also took pic of LED stop lights that came with the CM bed ... You can see reflection in stop sign about 1/8 mile down the road and a yellow road sign about half way.

LEDs are great...
