Just wondering if any of you who have the spray on bed liners ever load heavy pallets of stuff. I'm wondering if the material would have a tendancy to scrape off if they slide a heavy pallet up toward the front of the bed with a fork lift. I'm just not familiar with the durability of these liners. Thanks.

Hey Benson, Hows it going? Did you get your truck yet?, About the Liners. Go over to the Linex guy on Wible and White Ln By the Rainbow Carwash and Discount tire. He's real good at applying his product. I still might have my Rockers done by him even if it has to be done in Black.

LINE-X is a "harder" material when it is cured, than some of the others, that seem more rubbery. I think the ones that are rubbery are that way for non-skid purposes, or something. LINE-X won't peel up under the use you describe.

I have had a number of 2500# pallets loaded into my truck with a Line-x liner and have had no problems.

My friend put a spray in bed liner in his 2001. So far he is disapointed with it because he is putting dents in the bed especially in the corners of the wheel wells and on the rails. Aparently the old style plastic bed liner insers help prevent dents in the sheet metal. The spray in stuff looks nice and prevents scratches but it will not keep you from beatin' the crap out of it.

I think how well Linex performs depends on the abilities of the technician that applies the stuff. Evan Beck had his done recently and it looks top-notch and appears the material was liberally applied. But the other day I saw a Dodge Ram from the local LineX shop and the material appeared to be VERY thin! So definitely check out the shop you plan to have do it ahead of time.

I have the Gatorback spray in liner. It is too soft for heavy use, but keeps things from sliding around pretty good.

I had a Rhino in my V-10. When I slid furniture or lumber or anything heavy on the bed, it cut into it. Never went all the way through, but scratched it up pretty deep. Went back to a drop-in in this truck. The ultimate would be a spray-in with a drop-in over it.

This is my second truck with a spray in liner and wouldn't have one without it. The Line-X is a harder compound so you can still slid the pallets in. I have not been able to scratch or tear the surface. A spray in liner is not designed to prevent dents and dings, but it does keep it from rusting. The plastic liners will wear the paint off even if you never have a load on it. Once the moisture gets trap under it. Surface rust will appear sooner than later. If the Line-X is applied by someone who knows what they are doing they look great. I am extremely happy with mine and would recomend it to anyone who uses thier truck like a truck.

They also cut down on some of the road noise through the rear of the cab.

Had a Line-X installed just after I bought my truck. I worried that it would dent the first time I put something heavy in, but it still doesn't have a scratch. It is TOUGH sutff. I am very satisfied.

Spray in liners are better than the alternatives- had the rubber mat #ad
seen what the hard plastic does to the paint #ad
have the rhino and have gouged it a bit and put a dent or two in the bed- but unless you have an armor plated bed or never carry a load you 're gonna dent your bed- just make shure you see the quality of work that the applying shop does and talk to a few that had it applied there---- #ad
good luck

Thanks for the word guys. I've tried about every combination except for this spray on stuff. I think I am headed that way. I was just concerned that sliding a heavy pallet forward might scrape the stuff off.

No truck yet Doug, I'm trying to find out the status. It's hard to get through.

benson , if it scrapes off , they will fix it , i put in a piece of plywood for use when i need to slide something in and out .

sean the drop in dents the bed also , the liner pops out and the dent is hidden underneath.

I have the Rhino liner and lately have been buying pallets of landscape blocks for my yard. These weigh about 2500 lbs and are slid in the last 2' by forklift, I'm on my 10th pallet and have only taken one pea size chunk out of the liner on the tailgate. If I remember right when I got the liner they said if I damaged it they would fix it free.

Its not a hobby anymore, its an addiction!

Any of the major spray-in bed liner companies offer a lifetime warranty against damage hence, they will repair it free.

For the absolute best in bed protection... several TDR members have installed a plastic (under the rail) bed liner OVER the spray-in bed liner. Just a thought.

Thats why I bought a $600 5x8 Utility trailer, I did'nt want to trash a $32k truck when $600 trailers are available. Plus the trailer will hold 3,500lbs of rock!. Who cares if the trailer gets dented, scratched, bent, burned, squashed, ripped or crushed, Its only $600--> Very close to the price's of some Spray liners!

Doug.
