I'm thinking about putting a 6 inch single stack in my 05 regular cab and I have a few questions. How hot will the pipe get and what will it do to my rinno lining? How far away should I keep the pipe from the bed side and cab? And how high should the pipe be ? Sorry for so many questions. Any input or pictures will be appreciated.

Mine was about a 1/2" away from the Line-X and the bracket was on the pipe and the line-X and their was no problem. Mine was about 2" over the top of the cab,and pushed into the corner of the bed. [/IMG]#ad

It depends on what you think is loud. I had a 36"straight through muffler and it was a lot quieter than without the muffler, but it was still louder than stock by quite a bit. But that is what the stereo is for!

You also have to remember the outlet will be alot closer to you with stacks so it will be louder.

Stacks?

I've seen stacks and they look cool and all that, but I've always wondered about crud falling back down inside and not being able to get out. I know the big rigs use stacks, but has anyone ever heard this mentioned?

you only have to cut 1 hole if you like the way i did it for 2 stacks. have pics in profile. i don't know if you just want 1 for looks or just for the 1 hole only. tried to upload a pic, now sure if it worked. sorry if pic isn't clear, no digital yet.

I love my stacks, sorted setup like nick05's, but mine are 6"mitres, used Peterbilt cab stainless clamps that are bolted to the top of the bed, cross piece in the bed is chrome and the Y is in the middle for even smoke, need a 30 or 45 degree piece of pipe to accomadate the Y in the middle. I purchased 'Stack Hats' from iowa80.com (big truck chrome and accessory shop) they just slip down over the stack, made of plastic, and come in a number of colors, dont know if the work for turnouts though. I sometimes get some soot on the bed sides and tailgate but it wash right off, mainly come from driving in rain

My reg cab is quiter(inside) than my dads quad. Just depends on how you have you stacks set-up. He has mieters and I have turnouts, mine are taller his are lower.

but i dont have the bed space, nor am i willing to make the bed space for a setup like yours. i would like one stack on the pass side and the hole in the corner. the tool box is in the way, and like i said it is not to be moved.

people like to put things in my stack too and for the most part they just fly right out when you punch it. sometimes we did it on porpuse but i thought about what it something was too heavy to push out so i took some expanded metal and tached it inside a little ways down workes great and didn't color the chrome and now no one can crame stuff in there to where i can't get it out

i would love to do a stacks setup as well like catoiler has got. two seperate holes. How much does a stack set up cost and you look like your running some wide pipes there. What is the diameter of those puppies. And what size would i want on an 05 short bed 4 door. eventually i will chip it, injectors, turbo, cam, and wastegate so what diameter would i want?

Back to the original question, the stacks dont get that hot at all, they get there hottest when you shut the truck off. I didnt have a problem at all with the rhino lining. I had it straight pipe for a while and decided to put a muffler on for winter time. (plowing with no muffler is is not fun). For $40 bucks I went over to the auto parts store and ordered a 7inch round by 30inch muffler and put it in line next to the transfer case/transmission. Quited it down nicly. Still has a rumble when you stand on it but very managable.
