Speaking of boats and inflatable rafts---
My parents have a good sized pond up at their house in the mountains (where I am currently living) and its deep and cold (8 feet, 56 degrees in the summer).
Years ago, when I got bored with my Royal 40 trainer I decided to try a boat. It was one of those molded ABS plastic hydroplane types that you stick a model airplane engine on with an air prop. Kind of like an airboat.
My friend down the road bought the same thing so we could race and have fun. We had a small inflatable raft and I decided that it was boring watching and R/Cing from shore so I thought I would paddle out to the middle of the pond and have the boats race around me.
So I got in the raft and put my boat to idle with full left trim to keep it going in a circle while my buddy still played around. I decided to grab his boat on the engine pylon and have him throttle up to see if he could pull me out to the middle of the pond. It worked. Well, he turned too sharp after I let go, and that little prop sliced my inflatable boat about 10 times. I felt myself sinking fast. It was a cold day in October, sweats and fleece, hiking boots, etc. I managed to save my radio though as I bobbed up pand down trying to wade to shore.
