Rear Shock Hardware

I am replacing all my shocks and steering stabilizer. Unfortunately, the rear shock hardware is not cooperating. I plan on cutting them off.



Does anyone have a source for the dodge hardware to replace what I cut off? I know I can go to the dealer, I am just afraid of the pricing I will get.

go to a specialty fastner place in town or go to mcmaster- carr they have anything you need... the dealer may not have those parts... . probably special order... . how often do you think someone needs bolts for shocks. good luck

Actually, good news. At my local dealer, $4 a bolt, $4 a nut. A little high for that nut, but not the highway robbery I expected.

Now, the $22 plug to fix my outside air temp sensor, that was robbery, but what else can I do.

I just cut off the bracket on the nuts and ground it down like a normal nut. Then you can get a wrench on it easily.

Funny you should mention that. I got the part yesterday.



I did get the site to work, but I had to use internet explorer (as a Firefox user, I felt dirty and needed a shower afterwards).



I took the info to my dealer, who had one in stock. It was $22 (ouch).



Unfortunately, it did not fix my problem. My temp sensor must be bad as well. the connector was certainly bad, so I am not sure how else to test the sensor.

Thanks, I should have mentioned I already did that, and the impact started to round the bolt head. That is when I stopped, to make sure I had new hardware for when I grind the nut/bolt off.

I'm going to Bills on the rear soon, the fronts were a POC. Am I reading that doing the rears are going to be a PIA ? I would think they'd be easier than the fronts...

Just replaced all the shocks on 06 2wd. The rear top bolts do not have a lock washer. Instead there is a wing like piece that has been pressed onto the nut which does not allow it to turn, which means that you can only turn the bolt. Just spray all the bolts and nuts with a good penetrating oil for several days before starting job. HINT**>Doing this will save you lots of aggravation.

Once it has started to turn(use breaker bar), tighten again & loosen, keep this up for a few revs and it will come off easily. Reinstall was very easy as the threads are clean and oiled.

I used the truck bottle jack to compress & hold the shock in place to insert the bottom bolts.

I brushed, lubed, blew off w/compressor, lubed clean threads, 1/2" impact wrench, zipped right off no problem. I suspect I'll do the same to my rears.
