My question is....."what is the distance from the bottom of the kick plate or skid plate on the bottom of the truck, to the ground. Then what is the distance from the bottom of the Amp Research step to the ground.
I know that the steps do not interfere with the ground clearnce. May be I should ask or say how far does the Amp Research step lower from under the truck?
"I think the trucks look better with running boards hanging there vs running naked"
I completely agree. I have no issue with my factory running boards nor does my 5' 2" wife.

Measurement from truck floor to ground is approximately 26".
Measurement from the bottom of my door threshold to ground is 24.5"
From bottom of running board (retracted) or bottom of frame to ground is 17"
From top of step deployed to ground is 13.5 inches.
The step lowers about 5 inches from the bottom of the truck. However, it extends out about 6" as well at the same time from the edge of the truck which gives a lot of step to use for entering and exiting. Then.....it all disappears on retracting!
Given the most of us are not going 4 wheeling(how would you un-stick a 4 ton truck), I think the trucks look better with running boards hanging there vs running naked. Snoking

Les, it does not appear that your original steps were the same ones the US trucks got??? Looking at the difference I can see why you did not like yours. You sure the dealer did not install those? SNOKING

Are those Rams in the background gassers or CTD?
Our local volunteer EMS recently got one with a CTD. First ambulance I've seen on a Ram chasis until this picture. White with red lettering. Pretty sharp rig.
Hopefully I don't ever have to see the inside of THIS one :-laf

I bought the truck with them on already. My truck came from a different dealership. My dealer even said the ones that were put on my truck aren't the ones they normally put on.
Yours look great and if I had them, there may be a slight chance I wouldn't have changed.
I always thought the Longhorn trimmed trucks had color-matched boards and also of a different style....Interesting, it looks like SNOKING's factory running boards sit lower than mine do. Both are stock but different items.

You are correct.
