Replacement tires

Has anyone found a high quality 235/80R16 load range E tire that is not made in China? I blew 2 out last weekend (Nankings) on my toyhauler..... I don't have room between the tire to go with a 235/85R16. If I go up in size it will leave me less than 3/4" between tires, sort of makes me nervous.

My BIL has goodyear steel belted E or G rated tires on his trailer. . he loves them... .

Good tires

I had bad luck with Goodyears on my last fiver. Had four blowouts/tread

separations before I got rid of them. In my opinion, the best tires on

the road for pulling a heavy load, as I am, are the Michelin XPS RIB BL,

E rated. Not only are they steel belted, but the have steel mesh in the

sidewalls. Good luck.

1 bought a new 37' Montana 5th wheel in January. I have towed it less than 2000 miles so far. I was worried about the Chinese "Mission" radials on it because of the disaster I had on my last 5th wheel with Chinese "Kendra" tires, so today I replaced the ST235-80R16 Missions with LT235-85R16 Michelin XPS Rib tires.



I roughly measured the diameter of both with a tape and couldn't tell much difference in the outside diameter.



Interesting observation: The wheels on the Montana had "max weight 3042" stamped on the back, which happened to be the exact single tire rating on the Michelin XPS Ribs. The Missions had a rating of over 3400#. All were "E" rated at 80 psi.



The Michelin chart shows the diameter of the LT235 80/R16 as 32". Michelin has an LT245 75/R16 with a diameter of 30. 6". Both have identical load ratings.

Michelin. I run them on everything I own, including travel trailer. I'd put them on my wheelbarrow if they came in that size.

Have not had good luck with Goodyear LT tires a fifth wheel trailer (and that is an understatement). Michelin XPS Ribs have been good, not cheap but you know the old saying. Seem to be holding up real well.

My Everest came with 235,85 R16E Tacoma tires. They have been good in almost three years and 15K of towing. I am not sure if they come in an 80 though. You can check the OD or revs per mile on tires. The same "size" varies some among brands.

my fiver came with the goodyear LT 23580r 16 also less thab two year started loseing tires, bought the tow master 235 85r 16 so far like them. the fiver seems to pull easyer with these tires the cummins seems to be a little more at ease.

Another vote for the 245/75R16E Michelin XPS Ribs. I put them on my toy hauler this spring and love em'.

Amen to that. I am convinced that they are hands down, the BEST tire out there for trailers, trucks or whatever else you might need. From LTX MS, to Synchrone 4x4, to 41" XZLs to the 24570R19. 5s XDE MS on my current truck, I have never been let down a single time by a Michelin tire. They might cost more upfront, but the quality is well worth it IMO.

I also went with the MIchelin ribs for my trailer. Just last week I put the Michelin mtx ms on the truck.
