Wondering if this bothers anybody besides me...

is there a way to reset the "Low Wash" light without shutting off the truck?

on long trips in the winter I will often only stop to refill the resevoir once the light goes on, maybe I'm impatient but don't like to wait for the truck to cool off enough to shut it down, and it seems silly to shut down and restart just for this.

I've got an 01. 5 QC.

thanks for any ideas.

If you are concerned about turbo cooldown, it seems to me that you can shut the truck off for a few minutes without doing the full cooldown procedure as long as you start it back. It is my understanding that the turbo cokeing happens when the oil cools. Do I understand the correctly?

Keep this in mind. Your driving down the road, you hit the washers and the light comes on. Oh well, I need washer fluid, but its not all the way empty. So you continue to drive, then the oil pressure drops to 0psi. Guess what, because that light is already on, and the chime has already sounded, you will not get a warning telling you that you just lost oil pressure! Just the gauge dropping to 0psi, but no additional light or chime, because its already on from the low fuel or low washer.

Same thing if it overheats.

Now you see the reason to turn the truck off and recycle that light!

Do you have an EGT guage? Unless your foot has been real heavy into the trottle just before stopping, your EGT should be near 300f by the time you come to a full stop, set your parking brake and flip the hood latch. (I'm assuming you pull into a rest stop or service station or parking lot to do this.

If you're that concerned, wait the extra couple of seconds.

JUST BE THANKFUL THAT ONCE THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET A WHOLE G A L L O N OF FLUID IN.

This is the first vehicle that I have ever owned that had a tank the a capacity greater than a gallon!

Mine does that, too. It's very annoying. I didn't think the low fuel light did it, though. I think I tested that when I first got the truck and it did go out without shutting the truck down.

low wash light

Oh WOW all along I thought that light came on when it was time to trade the truck!!!!???? (LOL).

Yea it is a pain, I just keep a gallon jug, and keep it full so the stupid light never comes on.

glad to see I'm not the only one annoyed by this, according to the misses there are few things in life that don't annoy me...

I know it's no big deal to shut the truck off, but just seems unnecessary just te reset the light, guess I'll have to do some digging through the wiring diagrams for a way to do it, supose it's time to get a service manual...

other annoying things I forget about until I take a trip, has anybody looked into having the high beams indicator light dim with the rest of the dash lights?
