Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Resonator

Hey guys, just a quick question, just wondering if the resonator on my early 2001 cummins 2500 is a cat type, or is it for muffling the exhaust? It is only about 12 inches long if that, and would it be safe to remove?

It is not a CAT device but, if you have straight-piped your stock system you may not wish to remove it as you may experience drone a certain speeds. My stock system prior to the 4 inch was sweet with the resonator left in place after doing the Geno's straight pipe conversion.

I changed to a 4" system and removed the resonator but had to put a 4" resonator back on because of the drone was driving me nuts at 2000 rpm. And I'm hard of hearing.
