Hey all,

For those that have the Reunel rear tow bumper what are your toughts? Was it easy to install? Does it allow for the factory spare tire mount under the bed? Is the welded in receiver okay?

Thanks,

Brian

Hello - I had a Reunel bumper on my 92 W250 CC truck and it easy to install, but heavy. The spare tire carrier worked fine with the stock tire size and instead of the welded reciever hitch I opted for the unit that bolts to the bottom of the bumper... See the top pic on this webpage... .

It was a great bumper and I hope to put one on the 92 W250 I have now... Maybe Santa will give me one :-laf

I have one on my 92 D350 and I like it alot. It was a breeze to install and the welded in reciever is rated to pull 25,000 pound. You won't be disappointed.

Here is a pic of mine installed.

I have the stainless Reunel rear bumper with Warn 9000 winch. On the front, I have the Reunel stainless bumper with Warn 16. 5 ti winch. The rear bumper is easy to install if you use a floor jack due to the weight. It is tremendously strong and ties the frame together so it resists damage in a collision. Only on the Third Generation trucks do you need to jack up the bed to change the rear bumper/cross member. See TDR #47, p. 14-23 and #51, p. 30-44 for discussions on Reunel front and rear bumpers, winches, and related equipment. I have the bolt-on receiver hitch and it works extremely well. It is about 2” lower than stock on a Third Generation four wheel drive truck, so less drop is needed in the ball mount. That is another good thing. The weld-in receiver will be between the horizontal plates in the center, so it is about 3” higher than the bolt-on unit. The factory spare tire setup works fine.

This is great information. I went ahead and got the rear bumper too.

Yellow Freight shipping is a bit on the high side. It cost $390 to ship the front and rear bumpers to Nashville, Tenn. However, the crate weighs 550-580 lbs.
