Trying to find out if 16" rims will clear on a 3rd Gen. as in disc's

The factory 17" are very limited on sizes.

I want to run 235/85/16 or 245/85/16.

Any idea's ?

Thanks

Scott

You could run 235/80/17's, too. They are about the same diameter as the 235/85/16's. 32 inch diameter, about a 6. 5" tread width. I assume you are looking at tall and skinny? 32 inch diameter, about a 6. 5" tread width.

Who makes them ?

thanks

This is the standard tire size for the 3rd gen duallies. Used to be hard to find tires in this size, but you can get:

Michelin (LTX A/S)

Firestone (Transforce HT/AT)

Goodyear (SRA/GSA/Silent Armor)

General (AmeriTrac)

Mastercraft/Cooper

Pirelli

Someone once said Toyo is making tires in this size as well, but I don't have personal knowledge.

I've run the GY GSA's, the AmeriTarc TR's, and now have Firestone Transforce AT's on it (I'm pushing 100k miles now and frequently run loaded)

I have not used the Michelins as I wanted a more agressive tread than the LTX came with. The GY's crack on the sidewalls early on (they came with the truck). The Generals wore out (completely) in 35k miles. The Firestones are wearing well.

Also, the Firestones (even though they are the same size) have a slightly narrower tread and section width than the others I've tried.

This man's opinion.

Wow wore out in 35k. Got two friends with duallys. Both got obver 90k out of their Generals.

Actually, it was 25k miles. At that point, the wear bars were showing all the way across the tread on 4 of the six tires. The others were right behind them. Then one of them started losing tread in chunks. There were the AmeriTrac TR's, not the regular AmeriTracs.

Maybe I got a bad batch, but they sure didn't do well for me. $1000 per year for tires if I had stayed with them.

Based on tread depth, these Firestones will go 70-80k before they hit the bars. I have about 35k on them now.

Anyone run a Michelin Cross Terrain SUV ?

I am 2wd LB and almost never have a load. Trying to get best MPG possible.

Commute 200 miles a day.

Also found the Bridgestone Dueler H/L ?

thanks
