Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need Some Turbo Advice!!

I've searched the other threads for info on replacing the rusting trans cooler lines. All acknowlege that replacement lines are very expensive, and a solution appears to be you replace the steel with rubber. Anyone done that? How does one support the rubber lines? Has anyone cut out the rusted section and used compression fittings and hose to replace the bad piece? Its a 98. 5, 4 wheel 30. K miles, and i've already replaced the P. S pump body and fuel lines due to rust. thanks

I added a transmission cooler to my 1996 with a 47RE and plumbed it with 1/2" Aeroquip hydraulic hose rated for petroleum fluids at 300 degrees - don't remember the pressure rating, but the hose had a blue sheath. They worked fine and never gave any problems at all.

There are hose clamps that are like this-

The thick part in the pic, is a rubber coating. Can get them for different sized hose. I know they make some to hold a single hose, up to 2 hoses for sure.



John Deere uses this style of clamp. Work well. Just use one bolt (letter D in pic) to hold the clamp in place.



Found another type. It is similar to above, but the ones from Deere are dipped not this-

Mack uses this type. Works fine. Prefer the ones from Deere, though. Sometimes the rubber will desintergrate or fall out after time.
