I am not a fan of any oiled filters. I also like a box that takes the air from up high. Down here in the Florida swamps, you never know where you'll end up. Too bad these trucks are almost impossible to snorkel.

Based on the K&N I had for a short time that would allow dirt to cover my turbo. Based on the hundreds of photos I have seen of sand washed turbos. Based on the fact that they require oil to try and grab dirt particles out of the air, making it obvious that the filter itself does not have the required micron size to properly filter the air. If they did, no oil would be required. Based on that I don't want another oil to change. :-laf

So you have painted all oiled filters with one brush based on one filter and some pictures. My experience has been the total opposite with the aFe, and cleaning/re-oiling isn't that big a deal. Certainly much less work than rebuilding a dusted engine that had a low quality paper filter installed, or a warped filter box that the owner wasn't aware of.

I had a friend who's truck was used for mock up and testing for a snorkel on an 06. He called me up and wanted me to check it out for being sluggish and poor mileage. After inspecting it I disconnected it and had him take it for a spin. Voila power back. Snorkel was not designed with enough air flow for a Ctd

Ford had some issues with dusting iirc the 6.0. A large farm operation running a fleet of Fords were loosing engines to dusting every month. They started testing with Afe and pg7 systems-end of problem

I'm eagerly awaiting my PG7 Stage 2 setup. I am eager to see if there will be a sheen of oil on the turbo...

I took my stock hose off to facilitate other maintenance and saw that the inside of the house has a very light layer of pollen dust. I don't know where it came from, but there's a leak somewhere.

eeek! hope its all-ok!

Did some up hill runnin with my windows up [to better hear the turbo] and YEP! It def is louder, really sings from 10psi on up. :) :) Happy boy here.
I loaded my trailer with scrap metal for monday, see how my baby sings then.

All I wrote in the beginning is that "I am not a fan of oiled filters." In "my experience" oiled filters have proven to be less efficient and a pain to clean. I have oiled filters on 2 motorcycles, 2 dirt bikes, and one ATV. They all let dirt by. I have not used the filter you are so passionate about. I cannot test every product out there; though it sometimes feels like I have tried. I also do not purchase "cheap paper filters." You make a good argument for your filter. Your filter claims 99.7% efficiency, which is the best I have seen in a oiled filter. I have seen some HIGH QUALITY dry filters that claim 99.9% efficiency. Many companies use microns, or nothing to describe there filters. I doubt any of these numbers mean much after a few miles on them.

My truck is not a pavement pounder. I live on a dirt road and use it for hunting, fishing, camping, and hauling, so dirt and dust is a major concern. Maybe I can be converted. I do really like their air box design. Probably the nicest I have seen (not their open box). Banks makes a nice one too, but everything Banks seems to be overpriced. I will stick to my previous un-provocative statement "I am not a fan of oiled filters." If one day I do break down and put an oiled filter in my truck again (the box design may be enough), I will probably still not be a fan, due to maintenance.

As for snorkels, our trucks make it difficult. Most top quality snorkels have a lower air inlet on the box for regular driving that may be blocked off when needed. I imagine I would need to do some sort of through-the-hood snorkel, but I am not ready to cut a hole in the hood yet.

Keep me posted on your results with the new filter. Turbine pictures would be great too, clean or dirty.
