Dental Denture Question

I'm not real sure exactly what you're asking, Hammer. Can you rephrase it a little? You already have a 6" ported S&W . 44 mag, but want one with a shorter barrel and no porting? Is that it? Or do you want a different caliber, too, or instead?

Porting is nice in heavy calibers, but one thing to keep in mind with a carry gun is the odds of it being dark if you have to use it. The flash from a ported or compensated gun will blind you at night. With a . 44 Mag, and good aim ("good aim" with a . 44 mag is any hit at all since the muzzle energy alone will take the dude out!), one shot is all you need... unless there is more than one threat.

Have you emailed S&W? Between their customer support people knowing their catalog and also knowing what their Performance Center can do, perhaps they could point you in the right direction. Here's the cust. support email off their site:

They are GREAT people to deal with. I needed a repair some years ago and live within driving distance of the place. I called them up, asked them if I could hand deliver my gun for repair. No problem. I delivered it on a Monday and Thursday they called me to say it was all set. I picked it up the next day free of charge, no questions asked. Their customer support is great. I'm sure they can help you.

You can have about any gun ported. EFK does Glocks (both the barrel and the slide) for about $135. It's much cheaper for just a barrel. So if you find the gun you like, but it isn't ported, just have it done custom.

But be sure you first check out how blinding the flash of a ported gun is in the dark if you plan to use it for carry purposes! Flashblindness is a bad thing.
