Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Buy ammo, Buy guns

Need help with Picasa picture program

They certainly are a cheaper pistol. . we bought it as a camper gun and it turned out my wife shoots it better so its carried... .

I have also started carrying a KelTec P3AT, talk about a little gun :D

I have a Sig 228 in 9mm that's my "go to" gun. I've always liked 9mm's (can't explain why other than my first love was my Grandpa's 9mm Luger that he brought back from the war). Whenever I'd read reviews on semi auto's all of the writers would say Sig was the best out there if you could afford it, then they'd go on to compare the others. I've put at least 5,000 rounds through my Sig and I've never had a round fail to feed or go off - literally never. For me it feels natural - it's like I'm pointing my finger, and the balance is perfect. I can't say the same about the 226 (it has 15 rounds versus 13 in the 228 and is a 1/2 inch longer). Every time I shoot the Sig I like it more and more - and I've had it for 15 years now.

Personally I'd have a hard time buying a Glock although I know they are good guns. When the 40 S&W Glocks came out there was a problem with them. It was the highest pressure round they'd put in that frame yet and there were problems with the first ones where the rails would fail and the slide would come off the back of the gun. I saw it happen to 2 guns personally at the gun range - the guys were standing right next to me. Those 2 guns are the only guns I've ever seen come apart in my life and with that burned into my memory I just couldn't ever trust one even though I know they've long since fixed that issue.

Dont buy a 9mm. Go 40 cal all the way. Glock for self defense is the only way to go. you said you are buying it for your wife, if so no sig. To many things to do de-cock, double action / single action. Glock you pull the trigger and it goes boom, dirty or not. very reliable. I shoot glocks at least 3-4 times a week, I shoot alot of rounds and malfunctions are very few and far in between. Usually operator error. Cant go wrong with a GLOCK. If it breaks or something goes wrong with it very easy and cheap to fix.
You will spend less on the Glock and get a more reliable self defense gun.

i agree with patriot if you want to shoot a gun at targets then get a 1911, if you want a reliable self defense no gimmicks gun then the glock is it.

I have a 21 and it shoots great. Going to make it better by doing some trigger work and a wolf barrel.

The only thing I would say tha needs to be added to a glack are some nite sights.

Major difference IIRC is the Sig has a full alloy frame and is therefore much stronger, ie, if you drop it on a concrete floor it is much more likely to be in one workable piece when you pick it up. The Glock is all polymer except for the barrel and slide and a few miscellaneous pieces. Go with the Sig. They are made in Exeter, NH by the way.

I have personally seen a Glock 23 get run over by a car and then picked up and fired. Seems pretty tough to me.

I carry a Glock 23 at work (Glock 17 prior to that), a Glock 26 as a Back up and off duty and have thousands of rounds through both (usually cheap bulk reloads that we qualify with) and have never had a problem.

Glock will always get my vote based on my personal experiences with them. They are a combat handgun meant to do what a combat handgun was designed to do.

Just my 2 cents,

J-

glock all the way. i carry glock 26 personal and glock 21 while on duty. at the end of the day its all about how it feels to the person! dependable, reliable, genuine, like clock work, simple-GLOCK h&k, sig, s&w, ruger, para, kahr, etc are all great guns. just dont get a berrata( the daewoo of guns)

The local LE agencys that are changing pistols for the rank and file are going to Glock, and Smith&Wesson M&P's. I saw a small agency going to the Springfield Armory XD's.

The teams are using 1911's in at least the LAPD I don't know about the LASD.

The guns they are going away from are Beretta's, H&K's, Rugers, Smith&Wesson alloy frame semi autos. Neither of these depts. carried Sigs.

There are reasons for this, one of them is the lower bidder others are training, repairs, durability, fit the widest range of people. Smaller backup and off duty guns use the same parts, same platform, no retraining for the backup and OD guns.

If LE sales are keeping Sig in business then I could see them going out of business as their LE sales have to be dwindeling. I would say the same for H&K but the MP5's and the like will help them along.

While Smith and Glock don't offer sub guns Smith does have some kind of an AR platform which makes it easy for the procurement dept. Glock just has great pistols that share many common parts.

Get rid of all the nickle plated sissy pistols and get yourself a GLOCK!!!!I have a sig 228 & DONT care for it's double action(first shot trigger is 7 lbs pull and then the rest are 3lb pull). You need a trigger with the same feel every time to be a great shot. O yea your life may depent on it. I glock we trust!!!!
