Anybody had their exhaust brake (Pacbrake) not come on right away, and then it doesn't turn off right away, then it seems the more I use it , the faster it gets, until I leave it off for a minute then it has a slow reaction again. And if it's on the first time after a long break, it won't turn off, and if I get on the accelerator, it makes it worse. I have to take it out of gear and let the engine slow down then the brake will release. Sound familiar? I've cleaned the vacuum switch 3 times, the last being about 5 months ago, but it has never worked like new for over a year now, I've had to adjust my driving to the brake, like I know how long the lag will be, so I activate it early, then switch it off immediately so it will release about the time I want it to. Any suggestions?

It may been sooted up around the shaft to a point that it needs to be taken off and given a de-sooting. The Pac Brake on my wifes 2k is doing the same thing. But this one does not close all the way. It has to come off and get cleaned.

On the US Gear brakes. . it is programmed into the brake to close/open twice when you start the truck. This way. . it keeps it from gumming up and not working or slow working.

Take it apart, clean it and load it down with anti-seize and it would bet it will work. .

Slow brake

I believe these brakes work off a vacuum line and they also have a vent. If either is leaking or blocked or restricted then you could have this problem. I have a BD brake and my breather end got water in it once from washing the engine. This clogged up the breather and caused a similar problem, it worked correctly when cleaned. I then extended the breather with a tube into the cab where it wouldn't get wet when I cleaned the engine.

At this point I'll try everything, so I need to clean inside, the actual flap part and shaft right? And where is the vent located? So that I may inspect this as well. Thanks!

The reason I suggested cleaning it was because that is what I was told by US Gear to do to mine. I am sure they all need a good cleaning now and then if they are not used on a regular basis.
