Hi gang,
As you know, I've been rather busy lately. FINALLY the first production batch has been shipped. I don't know if you can imagine how much work is involved in getting a project like the Smarty rolling.
Just for example, each single Smarty has been tested in my truck. Each Smarty did an update from stock to CaTCHER, ABS update, read DTC codes and then back to stock.
A waste of time? It's been important to do it. 4% of the production showed problems of various nature. The causes have been identified and corrected. I have personally assembled, programmed, tested, boxed , shipped all Smarty's.
That took it's time but I believe it was time well spend. I found the problems instead of the customer. I want to deliver a quality product and quality starts with a very tight quality control.
I'm telling you this example because I would like you to understand how we do our things here. Quality, thus customer satisfaction FIRST, anything else is less important.
That brings me to the third gen Smarty which a lot of you would like to have already in their hands to play with. Up to date, I've never chimed in when people were asking questions about it. Why?
We're actually doing our R&D thing on the third gen. The beta CaTCHER softwares are ready ( have been for a long time ) , the protocol for the updates is almost ready ( we can update the ECM ) the DTC code reader is working. Yet, a chain is as strong as it's weakest part. Same goes for a product. A product is as good as it's worst part. I COULD release a third gen Smarty in the next days, but would it be as strong and as good as I WANT it to be? No! It would be like the competition. That simply ain't going to happen.
See, there's more involved than simply downloading a software into the ECM and call it OK. Footprints, recovery bootloader, 100% debugged software ( if that's ever possible ) just to mention a few, all known problems... Problems that I don't want to be present in the third gen Smarty. That takes it's time.
When? When? When?
I don't want to sound rude with my answer. When? Whenever Stefano and Marco are satisfied with what they did. Clear as mud?
I receive ton's of E-Mails with questions like, how much hp, how much tq, how this and how that... Well, any claim for a product that's under R&D would be HYPE not facts. Sorry, hype isn't my way.
Please be patient, I WILL keep you updated.
Thanks,
Marco
