The Goodyear Marathon tire gremlin hit me!

What is a guy going to do if he is stuck with 15 inch rims with 225-75-R-15 D rated tires on them . would like to buy Michelin XPS ribs but they only make them in 16 inch. so I ask what is the best 15 inch. D rated tire out there??????????? also I dont have the room to change wheel size on a Artic fox Please help thanks ED

Maxxis is a good trailer tire IF you do not pull over 60-65 MPH. They are speed rated at 65MPH as all trailer tires are. I have went with firestone transforce HT tires they have done me a good job. My goodyears was all gone at 4000 miles they was rated 65 MPH. I pull at the posted speed -65-70-75+ you need tires that will take speed if you pull like me. ----GOOD LUCK

I Have had two fifth wheel trailers ( one Teton and now a Mobil Suite) which came with Good Year Unisteel G614 RST. These have a load rating "G" of 3750 # in LT 235/85R16. They are a very high quality and will handle a heavy load under all conditions. I consider them a very safe tire on the express ways. I typically run the posted speed limit as not to hold up traffic. They are on the expensive side but would not look for anything of lesser quality.

While bias ply trailer tires seem pretty reliable (even though all the ones I can find are made in China), radials continue to be problematic. My travel trailer uses 15” radials and does not weigh enough to come close to their weight ratings, but I have lost tires due to ply separation. Whatever brand you get, I recommend checking them for heat and for bulges in the tread at every stop. They also seem more prone to failure at higher speeds.

I've upgraded all my trailer tires and don't use trailer tires...

I've read, or been told the trailer tires are designed to handle more side sway and body roll when the trailer corners... .

On the other hand, it seems that a light truck tire... yes its stiffer side wall and will be more harsh on the trailer might be safer in the long run if its correctly inflated...

It seem that these tires (light truck) do better... .

I've noticed that since we changed our trucks to steel wheels and 19. 5" tires, all the other issues we had went away with the 17" tires... I'm considering ordering 19. 5" wheels for my 5er instead of the 16" we currently use...

Your insight would be helpful...
