So why *couldn't* this genset be used in an RV?

The generator running @ 3600 gets pretty noisey as well. A good quality generator will run at 1800rpm. Most of the RV brands seem to be in the 3600rpm range, probably due to cost.

I was under the impression most RV generators were 1800 rpm units for lower noise. All the onan/kohler units I've seen were 1800rpm two cylinder units. The one in our motorhome is a 7KW Kohler two cylinder run off LP.



Don, any luck finding a used unit from a wrecked motorhome? There has to be some floating around in salvage yards somewhere.

epilogue

Bought a used Honda EV4010 off of eBay for less than half the price of a new one. Installed it, hooked it up, and never looked back. Other than replacing a fuel pump, I have had NO problems with it. Wifey even was able to make our existing remote starter work with it.



I will not buy ANYTHING but Honda from now on!!!!!!!
