Greetings one and all,

Sold my truck today :) for 8900. 00 our truck are going up in value,

Just want to thank one and all for all the imformation that has been passed on to this old man.

I'm going to buy a new 2006 dully, any of you towing a 5er would the height of a 4x4 be to high ?would I need a special hitch for the difference in height?

Thanks once again

Towing w/ a 4X4 requires either a 5er w/ suspension or front clearance designed to be towed by 4X4 or have dealer flip the axles on the 5er. You want at least 6" clearance between the truck bed and 5er on level ground and you want trailer level too.

RSeymon,

Congratulations on the sale of your '92.

What was the condition of your paint job at the time of sale?

Did you repaint the truck?

My '91. 5 looks awful but, runs GREAT. The paint is just falling off. The body is in great shape with only one small dent from a trash can parked to close to the truck.

I've been debating whether to put a better quality paint job on the truck. Wonder if it would be worth it? Would I get the money back if I sold the truck?

Joe,

My truck was silver and white. I did not repaint at all,was all original no peeling. I had gone thru the truck, engine was excellent no leeks att all, you could eat from the block,, all new rubber, wheel liners, air bags, 5th wheel hitch and break controller. ;) inside was all in good condition

I have a 37' fifth wheel I pull with my 2005 4X4 dually. I have a standard fifth wheel installed. I have six inches of bed clearance and the rig sits almost perfectly flat. I did not have to flip the axles. I think it may depend on what you are pulling. My fifth wheel puts me on the overloads and that may explain why the trailer is flat.

Yep the value on these old trucks is HIGH right now. Just ain't no more being built. A rust free in good shape 1st gen is worth big $$. I just left a truck pull and had quite a few comments and chats about my 91. 5. I'll be holding on to mine:D.

Bill,

Yes yours is a sweet rig, I was not going to sell but the wife wanted something new before I retire in 4 years, I would of been happy to keep driving this one, with the new trany and other bombs to it we decided to sell at this time. Hope the new one will not remove the grin of my face that the old one put on. :-laf

Buying a new CTD 06

I have a few friends who have bought the 06 model in the one ton. They all pull, some heavy freight, and some w/RV's, all with lots of miles. From what I hear on the road, all the CTD's are spoke well of thru the 04. The 06 owners do not like theirs as well as their previous dodges. Might be worth making some . inquiries on newer truck forum. R C
