24 years old and never had a wreck... even avoided several idiots before today #ad
I was driving down the road next to this moron, and he wasn't watching in front of him in his lane, where a bunch of cars were stopped in the lane, so when he finally decided to look in front of him, he slammed his brakes and whipped over into my lane. I think I could have avoided this one except for the stupid anti-locks that won't let me slow down. Anyway, the bright side is, my truck will need new clear coat sprayed on the rear quarter panel, whereas his car was mushed #ad
Oh well, nobody was hurt. Still, it is a pain in the butt to deal with the insurance people about this kind of stuff, and you are always out your time, even though they have to pay to have it fixed. Thanks for letting me vent.

Dammmmmm!

Hate to hear that Cody. #ad
Maybe they will reward you with enough to buy some goodies for your anguish. #ad

maybe you will find yourself in a position to have your whole truck repainted. You know the paint on our trucks is not all that great. Sorry about your crash.

Cody, sure hate to hear about the mishap. I totaled out a toyota pickup that ran a stop sign in the 98. Damage to the ram was fairly heavy. It is a sickening feeling to get out and see the baby messed up. At least you weren't hurt.

Hey Cody, at least the numbnut had insurance. As you know being in Texas, where you can buy a One month Auto insurance policy, there are alot of folks who don't carry insurance!!!! It is very common for people to buy a policy just to get their new tags and sticker then let it lapse. Be sure and take it to the repair shop of YOUR choice. Try to take to someplace that does High end paint and body work. There is a place in Houston that does All of the Infinity, Benz, and some Lexus work for any damage done when they are in transit. Good luck, and glad no one was hurt.

I really shouldn't complain I guess. Especially after seeing some of the pics of some rams here that were totalled. I walked away unscathed, I know some guys here have been banged up pretty badly.

You forgot the golden rule here,,,For every action there is an equal but completely opposite reaction,,By that I mean,he being the fool he was to ASSAULT your truck, might have a problem walking around your truck during his explaination of his stupidity,,In otherwards,he might slip and accidently fall and run into the ground,he he he,,But officer,I DO NOT know how he blackened his eye,He must have slipped and fell into my rear bumper as he looked over the damage,,ACTION(moron ran into truck)REACTION(fell and injured himself, not sure how though),,,Sticker in the rear window of my truck says it all,,,DO NOT RUN YOUR FINGERS OVER MY TRUCK,AND I WILL NOT RUN MY TRUCK OVER YOUR FINGERS!!!!!! NUFF SAID... ... .

I used to be a firm believer in the "If you hit me, you better kill me", but now i am calming down a bit. I hope i firget that idea if and when someone ever does hit me. I had a 96 Imapla SS and i pulled into a space in a parking lot and immediatley someone pulled in next to me. I deliberatley parked away from other people but this guy had to be next to me. Before i could get out of my car, i heard (And felt) him hit my car with his door. I got out and confronted him while i could see a visible dent in my door. I told him to give me his insurance information. He immediatley said "I did not do that, it was already there" . I opened his door and showed him that it lined up exactly with the dent in my door, He then says, "well i dont have insurance anyway i guess your S**t out of luck" and then starts to walk away. What did i do, i through a shopping cart through the windshield of his car. Needless to say, i felt much better. I really hope i never get in that situation again, especially with my beloved Ram. I now park FAR away from everyone and hope my side bars will deal with most stupid people

Wow, I thought I had a bad temper! I was very irritated as well, but I have come to realize that these things are inevitable, and he stopped and didn't try any funny business, so I was able to calm down. At first I was so mad my hands were shaking and I could hardly write down his information, but then my wife calmed me down and it is OK. I just got back from the dealer, they are going to repaint the whole side of my truck... I don't know how to feel about that. I will look at it very carefully and if it doesn't match the rest of the truck, they can just paint the whole thing.

I know how you feel. I had mine for 1 week and I was t-boned in the parking lot by a guy I work with. Like it's hard to see a 1 ton red 4x4. It took a couple of minutes before I could even talk. I'm only about 150 lbs and he's about 6'2 250 lbs and I thought I was goig to rip his head off. Even if I had to stand on my bumper to do it! Luckily he didn't hit me to hard. I made his Ins. pay for a truck/loaner for 3 weeks. At least you would never know it but the wounds still hurt.

... and when you get hit in Texas by someone that does not have insurance you have to pay $250 to get your damage paid according to the Texas Uninsured laws. Just had to pay myself when I got rear-ended and their was not enough insurance to go 'round.....

I know how your feel. I was re-ended on loop 12 at I-35. And just think the person that drove into me didn't have enough insurance to pay for all the damage he caused. So had to pay part of repair cost myself. Lawyers would not take the case because his insurance coverage was so low. And I lived in Plano at the time. Only good thing was we walked away from a wreak that crushed the trunk to the rear window.

I was going to post a new topic, but this one fits. My baby is one month and one day old. In-transits still on vehicle, came out of store today after being in there for five minutes. Some jackball put a HUGE dent in the box behind the rear wheel. No note or anything, camera didnt see it either. I know what kind of vehicle did it, I remember seeing it parked crooked. I normally park way out in lot, in a big hurry today though. Worst part about it is my deductible is $1000, to keep my rates down. A sad, sad day #ad

Gotta sympathize. Hit twice over 2wk period in DFW in my old '94 4x4 2500 5. 9gas truck. Both times it just knocked the dust off my bumper and smacked the heck out of the other guys cars. One had forged insurance. Nice job. Never tried to drive around more of a bunch of onthephone-talking-eating-drinking-notwatchingwherethey'regoing-speeding-swerving-reading-putting-on-makeup bunch of idiots that here in Dallas. Expecting to get flamed from readers from most other states here. Other metroplex CTD owners chime in here. Drivers here are BAD.

Sorry Cody, real tough break. Hope to see you out there, I'll be the one paying attention to what I'm doing on the road.

To all the participants of the TDR from a new guy - THIS REGISTER IS AWESOME.

I used to remove my receiver hitch so it would not rust up. My 84 Toyota had one rust in solid. Last November I put the hitch in my Dodge to move a trailer and forgot to take it out. Since then it has stopped two mini vans that would have certainly taken out the tail end if it hadn't been for the hitch. I am thinking about making a bigger one with a spring to absorb some of the shock.

The second accident was caused by a commercial driver in a FreightLiner straight truck. He actually admitted that he only looked at his notebook computer a couple of seconds and boom! I wanted to kill this miserable POS!

We got hit on I-75 doing 70mph by a young gal in a red Camaro. She said she wasn't paying attention and drifted out of her lane. She hit our rear quarter panel and bumper hard enough to send us into a fishtail but not out of control. $788. 00 will fix it soon as the insurance companies get it together. It is a sickening sight on a $30k plus truck.

You know, I used to leave mine in too for the same reason but nearly always forgot about it and walked behind the truck and wham, right below the knee. It's true that for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. #ad
