I want to insulate the inside of my cab, and just need input on the various methods... The Hush-mat, B-Quiet type of stuff versus Lizard skin and even Bedliner material.

Thanks!

I installed the B-quiet sound insulator on all four doors and it made a big difference with the road noise. It does not have that hollow sound anymore. I am going to do the floor and head liner next when I get a chance. From the research I had done, there is not much difference in the sound deadening materials, some are just more expensive than others. I went with B-quiet because it was cheaper.

I've got 3 rolls of RaamMat in my '04

my biggest complaint about the 3rd gens is the way the let the cab breathe is through the two vents on the back of the cab. The path of the air is baffled, but you can still hear a lot of road noise coming from behind the back seat

also the doors on the 3rd gens seem to be harder to do than the 2nd gens, and I ended up just putting 99% of the sound deadener on the inside of the outer door sheetmetal. only covered some small spots on the inner. Seems to have worked well regardless.

I am working on getting some industrial sound proofing material much better than dynomat. I should have some in about a week. I did the whole inside of my truck and it made a big difference. not quite as quite as a 3rd gen, but much better.

To have a realy quiet truck I believe you need to start the engine. I've used ATP blankets for the valve cover and the oil pan. I've done some extensive db testing and the oil pan is where most of the engine noise is coming from. Check out my post #1 & #6 where it shows my efforts to date. https://www.turbodieselregister.com...on-discussions/200758-quiet-your-ctd-atp.html

I just finished installing Second Skin Motor Mat on my entire hood on top of Dynamat Xtreme. In addition, you can see my oil pan. Basically the entire cab is wrapped with sound suppression material. I still have not done the roof due to the VES it looks like it will be a PITA to do.

Just a thought about the oil pan cover... . would it trap a lot of heat? There is a lot of heat transfer through the oil pan with wind going past.

I'm sure there are some heat transfer lost with the oil pan cover but i bet it is negligible. I've never had any heating problem with my rig so I figured it is okay.

I have done the full Dynomat and the ATP treatment and is is well worth it. I have a 2006 Quad cab that is a solid 68 db at 70 mph. It is very comfortable to drive. Also no heating issues. I towed last weekend in 103 temps up and down 5% grades.
