Spare tire winch turtled

Hey Folks-



Spare tire winch is hosed. The cable is all fouled up with no hope of repair. Dealer says they are on back order with no ship date. No wrecking yards in the area have one.

Any idea where I can find a new one in the aftermarket?

Go to a hardware store and get a piece of cable similiar in size and just replace the cable. Get some crimp cable clamps to install the rim plate.

If and when you fix it,purchase a Master cable lock w/6' cable. Thread it over the bed crossmember and through the spokes of the wheel. Cinch it up and no possible way the winch will fail again. Just don't lose the key! My '99 failed with the wife alerting me. The '07 has had the cable since new.
