I have a 1998 qc 5. 9/5 speed 4x4 and has 285 tires and the speedo is of a bout 4 mile an hour or so and i would like to fix this for various reasons. and every time i start the truck the check gauges light comes on and the doorbell chimes, but everrything seems normal? Thanks, Brian

The speedo can be recalibrated at the dealer or you can buy a box like I did. I bought the Tru-Speed by SuperLift and I really like it as it has a switch, which allows for two tire sizes. I have two sets of wheels/tires so this switch is real handy. Another plus is that you can dial it into perfection if you want.

You say your check gauges light comes on and you get the chime. Are you saying just the check gauges light or all of them? My truck always chimes when I first start as well as all the idiot lights lighting up for a bulb check.

cummins power 98.

this box you've got for tire calibration, will it work for a 3rd gen and what is the cost. Also where am I able to get this. Finally are you confident with it's accuracy.

The 3rd gen would probably need a different unit but they most likely make one for it. I bought mine online from 4 Wheel Performance Centers and paid about $203. Just do a search for "super lift Tru-Speed" and you will probably find many places selling them. The box is only as accurate as you set it. I have been able to get mine very close. I have checked it at 100 mile intervals and after full days of driving and it was right there so I have been very pleased. I'm liking it even more now that I have two sizes of tires. I can simply flip a switch and my speedo is corrected when I change wheels.
