I've got a friend at work with a '96 2500 12V CTD that is having intermitant starting problems. One day its fine, the next it acts like the batteries are drained. Would this symptom be an indication the contacts need to be replaced?
Need a little more info... . If it just clicks, maybe bad contacts or solenoid. Could even be a bad battery connection or cable. Now's a good time to get him to join the TDR...

The battery connections are good, and he says the cables appear to be in good shape (i. e. no cuts in the insulation or other damage). I've shown him Larry B's site and told him that I think the $35 kit is cheap insurance even if thats not it.
My starting issues are a little differant,,I turn the key an nothing happens,,no click ,,no grone NOTHING.
I let up on the clutch an pushed it down harder ,,and again nothing,
I kept doing this . . clutch up ,,key off.
Finally it took !!!?
Is there a switch/contact from the clutch pedal to the key?
I seem to be having this issue too. Do you have a part number for this item? I have a 96 Dodge Ram and I have already replaced the contacts inside the starter. But went out the other day and it seemed like I had a dead battery but the batteries are within 2 years. It finally started after waiting. I have an automatic not sure if this would apply to me.
