Tim,

Can't thank you enough for your pointing out the section of the thread outlining the steps required to complete the repair. I guess I passed over that section of the thread initially. I'm thinking of removing the column to visually check everything per your pictures as well as remove and resize the bushing for a proper fit. My shift column was pushed in with the excessive hammering force but I was able to bring it back out by prying between the firewall and the shift linkage collar. I'm sure that I must have broken the punch point between the two tubes but friction from the plastic parts must be allowing me to still shift the truck.

Certainly reference this thread to get past my problem. Now that winter is here would like to limp along until warmer weather as garage isn't heated.

Thanks Gents! I'll be ordering mine this week. I need to change the Steering linkage, Track Bar,and Drag link. Any suggestions on these parts? I want to do all at once. This is a great thread! Thanks again, Ron:)

This seems to be mainly a 4X4 problem after reading all the signatures. My 2WD has a popping noise when turning the steering wheel at times, but no "clunk" on bad roads. I don't feel any lateral play when I grab the spring and jerk it side to side. The intermediate shaft is not frozen. Am I correct in assuming that this bushing won't help me?

I just ordered on as I have replaced my box and tie rods due to a cab driver hitting me and am hoping that this is the last piece of the puzzle. I will post back once I have installed.

Hey, DBazley i ordered one of these over three weeks ago, and i have called and left a message with no return call. Whats the status? I kind of need it soon.

Mine too took about 3-4 weeks and when I sent him an email I didn't get a response either but sure enough, that little guy showed up at my door. So, have a little patience and it will show, I still have not installed it yet, will update when I do hopefully next week.

well I am getting a little ansy because I have my engine out and am rebuilding it and it's nearing completion and i am hoping to do this while the engine is out.

Manis, if your down to the wire and its still not there, I have a new one for my truck here in Seattle, have not had time to get it in yet, I can mail you and you mail me yours when it shows.

Thank you for the offer. I got a call today to let me know that it shipped, I had a great chat with DBazley. Great guy and I would do business with him again any day. Probably will as I am a mechanic and the commonality of this problem.

I recently ordered this kit and have not had any success getting a response from David. I just need to know if it's supposed to come with the retaining washer, or do I need to source one separately to replace the cut/removed one?

Hi All:

Can somebody post or PM me the correct address or phone #. email seems to bounce back.

Thanks, Steve Whalen

Count me in too! I'll be offline for a while in August. I'm picking up another 95 w/138K on it and it has some steering wander to be worked out. $Chaching$
