Greetings, My 02 4x4 2500 Cummins has been giving me steering fits the last several years with wandering. With 86,000 miles, I have tried:steering box stabilizer, Lukes link, alignments, new tires, Borgeson steering shaft and I'm still fighting the wheel. Ball joints seem tight along with everything else. My next move will be replacing the steering box with the Borgeson (BORG-800112) from Geno's Garage.

I know this topic has been beaten to death over the years but I just wanted some thoughts on the steering box or any input.

Thank you, Bill

Have you tried adjusting the steering box itself, I dont mean the over center adjustment on the top of the box, but where the steering shaft enters the box. There is a nut that takes a spanner wrench to tighten there, but I was able to do the same thing with a punch and hammer. I,m sure there is a thread in the TDR that explains the process in depth. If its loose it will tighten up the steering in a hurry.

How is the track bar? On the 01 I did tie rods and gearbox, and it helped but didnt make it perfect. Got the adjustable 3rd gen track bar to center the axle back up (2" lift) and couldnt be happier w/ my steering.

Steering braces are useful - and intended - to prevent wear in the lower steering box area - NOT to correct that wear once it's already happened... ;)

Ditto. I put one on the 01 on the stock box and it did make some improvement, but not enough where I was ready to call it good. Took it back off and reinstalled it under the redhead box, and Im happy with everything. Hopefully it will help this box out for a while. I determined my box was bad when i had my wife get in the truck and turn the wheel and I watched the shaft going out of the box into the pitman arm, it was easy to see the huge amount of play in it.

How about the simple things like getting it aligned and setting the caster out to something will drive decent?
