So when visually comparing the automatic truck turbos to the stick truck turbos the automatics look considerably smaller. Would changing to the stick shift version be a good upgrade? Assuming getting a used one from a stick person who upgraded to something bigger yet might make it a good deal?

Thanks

The autos came with a HY-35 that has a 9cm exhaust housing. Manuals came with a HX-35 that has a 12cm housing. Someone with more experience with swapping thses can tell you if they are a direct bolt in affair. With the hp you're at, it might be a good, cheap way to go if you can get one easily.

HY to HX35

It's a direct swap with or without the turndown off the turbo. Earlier HX35s used a V-band clamp to mount the exhaust pipe, they will still work as a swap. All you'd need to do is install the turndown from your HY.
